Namjoon says he's free for dinner on Wednesday. Jungkook freaks out the entire three days leading up to the event. He cleans his room twice and deep cleans the rest of the house on Tuesday afternoon. He even goes to the grocery store with his mom on Wednesday so she doesn't buy anything Namjoon dislikes or is allergic to. He's hovering in the kitchen half an hour before Namjoon arrives.

"You're making me nervous with all that back-seat cooking you're doing, kid," his dad comments. "Leave your mother alone and watch TV with me. Friends is on."

Jungkook sighs and sits on the couch next to his dad. He's not the biggest fan of Friends, but he knows it's one of his dad's favorite shows, so he watches it anyway. His phone vibrates in his pocket, so he fishes it out to find a text from Namjoon

From: Namjoon

I just left so I'll be there in twenty!

To: Namjoon

Okay, see you soon ;)

If Jungkook wasn't sitting next to his father, he probably would have sent something a little cheekier. "He's on his way," he says to his dad. His dad smiles and keeps watching the sitcom on the screen.

As soon as the doorbell rings, Jungkook shoots up from the couch to answer it. He opens the door to Namjoon wearing a dress shirt and jeans. He's holding a bottle of wine. When he sees Jungkook, he smiles.

"Hey," he says. He takes off his shoes and moves in to give Jungkook a quick hug. "I brought wine. I wasn't sure what your parents would like, but this is the nicest bottle I could afford."

Jungkook pulls back and smiles at Namjoon. He hears his dad walking into the foyer as he speaks. "You didn't have to bring anything."

Namjoon shrugs. "If my mom found out I went to someone's house without a gift, I'd never get to eat her kimchi jjigae ever again. That's a future I would rather not live in." Namjoon turns to Jungkook's father and holds out his right hand. "I'm Namjoon Kim, it's very nice to meet you."

Jungkook sees the surprise on his dad's face. The two men shake hands. "I'm Junghoon, Jungkook's father. Is that wine I see?" Namjoon hands Jungkook's dad the bottle. "This is some good stuff. Are you old enough to drink?"

"Barely," is Namjoon's reply. "My twenty-first birthday was a month ago," he says.

"And how do you know our Jungkook? He's still in high school you know."

"Dad!" Jungkook says. "I'm technically an adult now."

Namjoon laughs. "I tutored Taehyung last semester, so I'm friends with him and Jimin. They introduced us."

"Ah Taehyung," Junghoon says. "He's an oddball, that one. Good kid, though."

"You can say that again," Namjoon chuckles.

"Well, don't be shy, come on in!" Jungkook's dad says. "I'll go ask when dinner will be ready. You two wait in the living room." He walks off into the kitchen while reading the label on the wine bottle. Namjoon turns to Jungkook.

"Your dad is really nice," Namjoon says.

"I think he likes you already," Jugkook says. He leads Namjoon into the living room where Friends is still playing. They sit on the couch. "Especially since you brought him alcohol."

"Should I have gotten something else?" Namjoon worries. "Like chocolates? Or a candle?"

Jungkook laughs. "No, alcohol is just fine. My mom will drink more than my dad will, anyway."

Jungkook's mother pokes her head into the living room. "Hello, boys. Dinner is on the table, so why don't you wash up then come eat?"

Jungkook and Namjoon wash their hands in the bathroom, then join Jungkook's parents at the table. There are three wine glasses on the table, but Namjoon doesn't move to fill his own glass.
