The blue metal slammed shut as the

lock was secured around the door.

The running shoes attached to my feet

as I stepped out of the room.

I watched as the gym filled with bodies.

Taking my place I sat on the floor.

The wood cold, my face expressionless.

My arm wrapped with ace bandage as

the boy looked at it; curious to what

happened.

He parts his lips to speak, what happened?

I am fine. I'm always fine. Just a burn.

Alright.

I face forward. Waiting to be

instructed.

She walks out from behind the door.

My feet move across the wood and

On to the pavement, the wind blows

As if it is singing to us.

He looks at me again, this time

My reaction is non existent, no longer

Curious as to what the boy wants.

Sound comes out of his mouth, his

Eyes trained on me, waiting for a

Reaction. But none ever comes.

I said what is your name?

Julie (names changed for privacy)

Jaxon.

Okay. Nice to meet you.

I face forward, it's my turn to jog.

I return to the line as he looks at me.

Yes?

You're kinda funny.

Why is that? I remain calm.

Cuz your reaction to my jokes is

amusing. I laugh a subtle laugh.

And for the first time, I feel my heart

Beat a bit faster.

The bell rings and I return to the blue

metal. Stripping out of my clothes as I

Put on my other outfit. and I slam

the blue metal shut. collect my bag

and walk out.
