POV: Natilie

"Nat! The letter from the X Factor came in!" My papá called to me from the kitchen.

"Frisbee." I held my hand up and he tossed it to me as I sat on the couch. My fingers fiddled with the envelope before finally getting it open to see the details of everything that is about to go on. I'm in way over my head.

"Don't back out, Nat. Too late for that." My mom pointed at me as she came out of her office. "Let me see it so I can make reservations for everyone else. Everything for you is paid in full."

I tossed her the letter which caused her to give me the mom look.

"You really just toss this life changing letter around like nothing."

I shrugged before going into my room and picking up my guitar. I'm going to lose the X Factor anyways. There is no need to book everything. I probably won't make it passed Bootcamp.

*three weeks later in LA*

"Nat! Wake up! We're here!" Mike shook me awake and I groaned. East coast to west coast is not a fun plane ride. "You gotta go win the X Factor!"

"I get too nervous. I'm not going to win Mike. Stop saying that." I pushed him off of me. Him and I sat in first class while my mom and dad sat in economy since they wanted Mike and I to be together, but don't have the money for three first class tickets. Mine was paid for by the X Factor.

"Not with that attitude." A familiar voice came from behind me and it made me jump.

My head slowly turned to see the raven haired girl that I've only dreamt of meeting.

"Hey Natilie." Lauren gave me a smile. "You're from Miami too?" She tilted her head to the side a little which caused me to smile.

"Yeah, born and raised." I nodded and Mike just started to laugh beside me. "What?" I looked over at him.

"I'll tell you in a bit Nat." He continued to laugh to himself and I squinted my eyes in confusion, and then Lauren started to laugh from behind me.

When I turned back to her she had a smile on her face that I couldn't explain, but then bit her lip slightly and I had to force myself to look away.

"I've got the girl group this year

"I've got the girl group this year. Don't tell anyone." Lauren shot me a wink and I blushed which caused her to laugh. When I faced forward my brother saw the red on my cheeks and then he started to laugh too.

I'm outnumbered.

—————————————————————

I sat in a room full of girls who were talking amongst each other, while I sat in a chair in the corner of the room. We are waiting on our coach/judge, who I already know is Lauren, and some girls are already making some kind of allies with each other.

Great. I'm alone, outnumbered, and shy.

The double doors opened and all of the girls screamed before running over to Lauren who kept looking at me even though she was hugging all of the other girls.

Why does she keep looking at me like that?

"Who is ready to work and who is ready to win?" All of the girls cheered, and I just looked at her with worry. She mouthed 'it's okay' to me and I nodded. "A week from today you are going to be fighting for one of the six chairs to go to the judge house. Then only four will make it to the live shows. I speak from experience when I say that bootcamp is the most exhausting phase. You are working on your voices from sun up to sun down everyday. My tip is to sleep every time you get the chance. Don't go on your phones or anything, because one second turns into one hour real quick. I wish you girls the best of luck. This is goodbye for now. I'll see you in a week." Lauren winked at me before walking out and then we all got put into different areas with new people who weren't contestants.

"Natilie! You're with me." A taller woman waved me over and I walked over to the little room she was in. "This is where we will meet everyday from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm. Of course there will be food breaks and what not. I fought to get you, because you have potential that I can work with. Drink some water and then we'll start."

Did this chick just say 6:30 to 9:30? Is she crazy?

"Oh, and my name is CJ." She put her hand out for me to shake.

"One more time on that chorus. Careful with the control. Don't slip into your lower belt. Hold that note." CJ spoke into the speakers of the booth.

I'm going to shoot myself if I have to do it one more time. I love Little Mix dearly, but after this I want to push them off of a cliff for making this song.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man
You made my heart break and that made me who I am
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now
Well, I, I'm all the way up
I swear you'll never bring me down
Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man
You made my heart break and that made me who I am
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now
Well, I'm, I'm all the way up
I swear you'll never, you'll never bring me down."

"Yes! Perfect! I love the sass with it too. I want you to take this song and use it as the biggest fuck you to your ex. Put every ounce of sass you have a in that 4'11"  body of yours into this song." CJ clapped and waved for me to come out of the booth.

Little does she know the sass was from her making me sing that chorus at least fifty times.

I texted my family all that was going on, including the schedule, and they were just as shocked as me, but definitely not as tired. There are twenty three girls, and six seats. Fuck. My. Life.
