Uggghhhhhh...sometimes I feel like my alarm purposely gets louder when I don't get up at the first beep.
After I turn off my alarm, I get up from my bed sore and exhausted from last night. What's that you ask...how do I still look so beautiful? Well- what's that? you asked why I look like shit? Well, you don't need to be so rude! But I am gracious so I will tell you anyway.
Que the flashback!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Please tell me why we're going to a party on a school night?" I ask the overly excited girl in front of me.
"Because fun does not end simply because it is a school night." She responds emphasizing because.
"Just because it doesn't end does not mean it shouldn't," I whisper under my breath."What was that?" She says as she snaps her head to look at me with her scrutinizing eyes.
"Nothing," I say with a playful smile.
If you're wondering who I'm talking to right now it's my childhood friend Michelle Jones. She is the complete opposite of me, while I prefer living life as simply as I can, Michelle loves to live life as complicated as it can get. I only have one friend group that I talk to, she has multiple friend groups. I live life according to the suggested speed, while she likes testing the speed limit every day. Now don't get me wrong, I love that about her. We compliment each other; I mellow her out and she encourages me to get out of my comfort zone. We're the perfect pair, Ying and Yang. It also helps that our moms are college besties and our dads have known each other since kindergarten. Sometimes I fee-"So for this party what do you think I should wear?"
Michelle's question snaps me back to reality. I look up at the two options she holds, one in each hand.
"Hmm...the first one," I suggest weighing the two options. I mean both options were cute but the first practically screams Michelle.
"Yeah, I was going to go with the first but I wasn't sure." She says while stripping down to her underwear.
I lean back onto her bed wondering how she convinced me to even attend a party, not just any party but a college party. I mean we are seniors so age is not the problem but something just feels wrong.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If only I had listened to my gut if only I had lied, If only I had called my parents to pick me up! But there's nothing I can do now...let's continue with the story!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I shake off the feeling of uncertainty and stand up from Michelle's bed. My feet brush against her beige carpet as I drag myself to her giant walk-in closet. I'm immediately overwhelmed by the number of clothes she has, I'll never get used to this. I start going through her closet wondering if I'll even choose an outfit before this year ends.
"What time did the girls say they're coming again?" Michelle shouts from the bathroom.
"Like in 30 minutes."
"30 minutes?! You haven't even picked an outfit and I've barely started my makeup!"
Michelle tends to stress over time but always ends up ready before everyone else.
"You'll be fine and I've picked my outfit, I just need some shoes." I reassure her while staring at her shelves of shoes.
"I know but thank you! Remember we're going to a frat house, I advise you to wear shoes you can run in if something were to happen." She shouts as she comes out of the bathroom, presumably done with her makeup.
"Ok, thank you." I respond as I finally decide on a pair of shoes I think I can run in, not that I've ever been good at running.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The doorbell rings and we get our bags, heading towards the staircase.
"You know you guys should install an elevator." I say to Michelle jokingly.
"Right! I've been trying to convince my dad for like two weeks now." She says as we reach the landing and continue towards the front door.
I giggle to myself thinking she was joking but she looks deadly serious. This only turns my giggling into full-blown hysterical laughter. She rolls her eyes at me and opens the front door.
"We thought you had finally gotten that pet Hyena you've been begging your dad for but turns out it's just Kate." One of the girls says to Michelle with a slight grin on her face.
It's Michelle's turn to laugh now and she doesn't hold back. I flip the two of them off while walking out of the house.
"You're too funny Jay! And I will get that Hyena." Michelle says in-between deep breaths.
Oh silly me! How could I almost forget to introduce my girls?! The girl who just roasted me is Jay and she's your stereotypical crystal girl. She only wears earthly colors and is really in tune with the stars or is it the sun...I'm not sure but she's super cool and understanding. To her left is Fauna, she is probably one of the smartest people you'd ever meet but she's really humble about it. She also recently got into Harvard but still doesn't know what street she lives on and she's lived there for fifteen years. Behind her is Georgie, an absolute cutie patootie! What? Too much? Yeah, I agree I don't know where that came from but that's the effect that Georgie has on everyone that meets her. If an angel took on the human form it would be her, she's borderline perfect.
After Michelle locks the door and activates the security system, we head towards the garage.
"Who's the designated driver this time?" Georgia asks.
"It was me last week." Fauna says while yawning.
"Yeah, and I know me and Georgie were before Fauna." Michelle quips.
Everyone turns to look at me.
I sigh.
"Yeah, yeah don't stare a hole into my head I'll get my car keys." I say as I sift through my bag looking for my keys.
Everyone giggles, happy they don't have to go to their first College party sober. I can already tell this night is about to be an absolute shit show.
"You can take one of my cars." Michelle says, obviously trying to comfort me.
My eyes sparkle at the mention of her cars. Michelle has a sick car collection and even has my dream car, a pink supra mk4.
She notices this and grins at me.
"Yes you can take the Supra."
I let out an ear-piercing squeal and hurry up towards her garage putting in the passcode.
Maybe tonight won't be so bad.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wish I never said that. Not only is tonight one of the worse nights ever, but I also have a splitting headache. I've lost all my friends and I don't know anyone here. The last time I saw Jay she was giving a group of guys some kind of zodiac reading. Michelle has been missing since I stopped the car. Fauna and Georgie were with me until like twenty minutes ago when they said they were going to get drinks.
I'm so tired. I look at the time on my phone and my eyes almost pop out of my head. We have school in five hours and if we don't leave now my parents are going to kill me. I push my way through the crowd of gyrating teenagers in hopes I would find my friends before they get alcohol poisoning. Sadly, I can't drink this time around because it's my turn to be the designated driver. I'm pretty sure a little bit of cheap booze would make this migraine better...or worse.
I shake off my cravings for booze and keep pushing through the crowd wondering if this night could get any worse.
