At night time the city seemed to turn into pure chaos. Already entering the streets Nina could see the atmosphere change from wanting justice to wanting bloody revenge. She got it, she felt the same but she wouldn't give in into that need. This course of action could harm those who wanted to protest in peace, just like she wanted a few hours before. That's why after a lot of inner debate she decided she would be helping protestants rather than run into the front lines.
Where she was now things were relatively calm, everyone was busy bringing out anyone who was unwell and Nina was running back and forth with water and snacks she managed to buy a few blocks away. She did some small talk but didn't really stay for long with anyone, always searching for something to do.
But still that feeling of anger didn't diminish, on the contrary it felt like it was building up more and more until finally she couldn't stand it anymore and moved forward.
"TEAR G-" "OH FOR FUCK SAKE!" Her loud course interrupted the scream as she took out her bat and ran forward. She couldn't believe it and she was angry, so angry that making that can fly right back into the police officers felt like pure relief, even thought the pain in her chest make her eyes tear up and left her gasping. If she could she would grab the one who was throwing it and feed it to him. What elevated her pain was receiving one in the chest when she missed her hit due to the pain... Still she did manage help extinguishing another of those before her eyes widened and a chill ran down her spine. She knew that gun.
"Fuc-" Before she could finish her sentence a large hand closed on her arm and dragged her away so fast she could barely keep up. She looked up at whom was dragging her and she relaxed slightly. It was the stranger from before.
They kept on walking for quite a while before he stopped abruptly making her bump lightly into him. "And what are you doing?" He looked in her eyes with a huff. He didn't seem angry. Just... worried? irritated? disappointed? "You were supposed to be home!" He added sighting her down on a bench as Nina tried to catch her breath.
"And so where you!" She replied with a frown. "Anyway how did you know I was here?" She added letting out a small caught.
At that the man took out his phone and showed her Twitter. "You are getting famous mom friend" He replied with a small sight, putting his phone back in his pocket. "And now you're coming with me" He stood up and offered his hand but Nina didn't budge. "please?" He added.
"Where are you taking me?"
"Back to my apartment. Your lying skills are too high and I'd like to sleep well without wondering if someone I met will die because I took my eyes off them for one evening"
"And how do I know you won't throw me into a basement and feed me of to your pet crocodiles?" She caught out still unsure if she could trust him. She was weighting her options. If she goes back her relatives will probably freak out and tie her to bed so she doesn't go to any more protest. On the other hand going with the stranger either would make her end up dead... or closer to the city center she guessed.
"I don't have a basement or pet crocodiles, so I think you're safe. Tho I have a roommate, but I'll deal with him" He joked his hand still reaching for hers and finally Nina gave in. She stood up and only now that she knew she would be resting soon, her body started aching all over. She sighted lightly.
"Just so you know I'm keeping my bat at all times" She mumbled as he led them back to the subway.
"If it makes feel safer I can even procure kitchen knives" Laughed the stranger. "My name is Michael by the way" He presented himself as they entered one of the cars. The woman sat carefully on the bench and sighted which made her flinch lightly.
