Lin Kuei Temple

Dark, damped and cold. Full of mysteries and miseries. That's her description as she walked towards the facade of Lin Kuei temple. Torches were hung in the walls and barrels were displayed in every corner of the temple. The gush of wind hit the bare parts of her skin which made her spine chill even more. What came up to her mind that she didn't even bring a furry coat to protect her skin, knowing that this place was like an enormous refrigerator. She constantly rubbed her two palms in order to form a heat, and kneaded the warmth to her torso. At least in that way she could survive against the freezing atmosphere. Luckily, her venomous giant Scolopendridae was wrapping her left thigh up to her showing stomach since her top with the shade of nude was a fitted halter hugging her perfect frame. She was grateful that her pet, Slither helping her to ease her current condition.

Now that Slither was mentioned... Slither was her pet that she had received as a birthday present from Fujin when she celebrated her 75 years of age. Slither was hard to tame at their first encounter but as each day passed and the more she pursued the monstrous insect, she finally got his trust, attention and became more attached to each other. There was once a disaster occured when she had her training with Grandmaster Hanzo Hasashi in an open field, alongside the Fire Garden while Slither was resting under the trees. Due to the weather that triggered his calm mood unto aggressive and uncontrollable one, thus Slither attacked Anya and almost bit her flawless leg with the poison situated in his antennae. He abhorrently mistaken her as his foe. After the dilemma, he distant himself from his master within two weeks. His legs like daggers were fatal and Anya considered them as gifts from the god of wind.

As she finally stood in the entrance, there's a sign written in Mandarin Chinese. Oblivious about what was indicated, her instinct knew it was the grandmaster's headquarter. As she was about to knock, the door suddenly opened in a loud thud. Her guts told her to instantly grab the knife inside her kombat jean's pocket, and to directly point it towards the man standing firmly in the doorway. The adrenaline rushed throughout her veins as she readied herself to fight despite her teeth gritting due to the prevailing sub zero degree temperature. A raspy chuckle was left to the man's thin strawberry lips. His deep brown eyes were really hypnotizing like he was going to lead you to another realm. Her flexes stopped for a moment and her lips were slowly gaping as she realized what kind of idiocy came again to her stupid head.

"It seems like this is your traditional manner of greeting, Lady Anya," a smirk formed in his lips like he was taunting her behavior.

"My apologies, Grandmaster Kuai Liang. I thought there will be a sudden attack of unknown identity. It won't happen again! Sorry," she immediately bowed her head and afterwards she smiled nervously to him. She brought her knife back to its original place. Deep down to her mind, she cursed foreign words to herself.

"Please, get inside. I could see that you are freezing, tremendously," he assisted her inside and placed his one warm calloused hand to her shoulder. She slightly jumped to his gesture which made her confused. Kuai, in general, was known for being aloof. Everyone was mortified by his silence as well as his former students were shivering whenever he made eye contact with them. But it seemed like it was the opposite... For now. Mayhap because he needed a favor that's why he was giving her a good treatment? Nevermind, she was just too paranoid.

"Please, make yourself at home," as soon as they walked along the hallways of the temple, she was thinking about her predicaments towards their discussion later. Thinking what will be his request after the long time they met in a war with Shinnok. To be honest, they weren't really that closed and they were too distant to make a conversation. Actually, she was more fond talking to Cassie Cage and Lord Raiden. Cassie was like a sister to her. They shared the same interest such as guns, digitals, etc. While to Lord Raiden, she often sought for consultation from him. The fact that she was the daughter of an elder god but also a child of mere human. Yet, she was no different for him. Unfortunately, she didn't inherit her mother's ethereal power yet she still earned respect from the gods even the emperors and empresses. Well, except for arrogant Emperors like Shao Kahn. Still, she felt like she didn't deserve the honor given by the others and from her superiors. In her own perception, she's undefiable only when she's with Slither. She had no ability to manipulate elements; just guns and knives.

When they reached their destination, Kuai offered Anya a sit and excused himself to the kitchen so that he could make a hot tea for her. While she was waiting like an obedient guest, she couldn't help but to inspect and roam her eyes around the four corners of the temple's dining area. The ambiance was pleasing to the sight. Shame on her that she criticized the temple earlier. As Kuai back to her, she could smell the fresh aroma of the green tea. When she finally reached the tea and sipped it, she moaned in delight which made Kuai find her amusing.
