Tonight. The exchange was supposed to happen tonight. Right now, in fact. She had spent the last four days thinking and thinking. And all she got was 'ambush them'. Who knows, maybe the simplest plan was really the best one.
Logically, he wouldn't bring his entire pack. He had to leave some of them in each of his territories. She didn't know exactly how many members he had, especially after all his conquests. But what she did know is that he couldn't possibly bring all his members to attack them, and that the number of warriors she had was quite substantial.
The plan was to literally surround them and then rip into them. Of course, Selene would be left behind. It was unwise to bring the very person he wanted in front of him. So yeah, her sister was staying here. Along with the other warrior trainees so that the pack would still have some form of protection.
"This is not going to go well," Hunter stated. Well, that was pessimistic. Though it may be true. But she wasn't going to tell anyone that. So, she just gave him a shrug in return. It may be a tough battle, but the fighters were unanimous when they voted.
She had doubted that they would agree with her decision. One white wolf for the rest of the pack? If she were not the Alpha and Selene's sister, she would probably not agree with her own decision. But she was surprised at the pack's protectiveness. Maybe it had something to do with the sentient wolf-side they have. Pack mentality and all that. She wasn't saying that she didn't have the same morals as them. But hers came from a sense of responsibility. She didn't know about them. Regardless, all that mattered was that they were on the same page.
Also, two of the warriors' mates were in their enemy's grasp. That probably contributed to their anger.
Selene was with the other trainees, briefing them. She really didn't want to think about it, but if they perished tonight, Selene would be Alpha. So, she made Selene in charge of the pack while she was gone (Also, she knew that by giving Selene this responsibility, she would be less inclined to follow them into the woods and get herself caught, again). She took one look at everyone's determined faces. Jace, Sarah, Kimmy, Ashley, Alexander, Charles, Derek, Gabriel, Hunter- Wow there was a lot of them.
"Well, no time to back off now." She finally said, and she was backed by the resounding growls around her. She rolled her shoulders, cracked her neck and knuckles, before she shifted into a snarling wolf. And took off into the woods with the others following closely behind her.
She had many thoughts flashing through her head at that moment. Some were major. Were they running to their deaths? Would her pack be the seventh pack to fall? Would Selene listen to them and stay behind?
Other thoughts? Not as major. She would even say unimportant. But it was there...
Did anyone remember to force Remus to do his homework among all this chaos? Should she get an actual job? If Diana met other werewolves who were in their human form when she met them, would she recognize them as wolves or not, what with her lack of a wolf-side?
So yes. A lot of thoughts.
But that all disappeared once she spotted them. And she lunged at the first wolf she saw.
If she had taken a second look around, she would have reconsidered. Because Diana would have seen that they had twice as many wolves than she did.
Maybe it was lucky that she didn't notice that. At least there would be no ideas of imminent death in her head. All she had was fear, desperation, impatience, and a whole lot of rage.
She sunk her fangs into the neck of the wolf, and her pack followed her lead, descending on the others like the plague. Diana had her area covered, literally basking in the blood of her enemies. Hmm. Maybe she should consider seeing a therapist.
It was then that she heard it. Voices. Her pack members. 'They're at the end, but we've got company', she heard Hunter growl out.
All four of them were there. All humans, unable to shift, and tied together, back to back. They were quite heavily injured. They looked worse off than her prisoners were, some wounds scabbing over while the others were still rather fresh. At least they were alive, she consoled herself. Though a part of her was bitter about the mistreatment of her captured members.
So she took it out on the wolf in her grasp, clawing him and biting his neck once he was on the ground, to make sure he wouldn't be able to continue participating in the battle, and all but ran towards the direction of the cage. She had to stop when a very familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.
'Dee. Help.' Hunter. Hunter was in danger. She scanned the area as she ran. Where was -what the hell was that...
Hunter was fighting a wolf. That was inaccurate. Hunter was losing to the biggest wolf she had ever seen.
Before this, Hunter held that title, oversizing her by two inches or so (she had Selene measure), but this wolf was considerably bigger. And Hunter, the brave idiot that he was, charged towards him without any backup. She was going to wring his neck later.
Being an elder sister, there's only one thing she could do when faced with this situation. She ran towards them and lunged, sinking her teeth into his neck to distract him from clawing at her brother. Hunter's scar was already one too many for her. The gigantic wolf arched his back in response to throw her off, snarling violently.
She's an idiot. That was the only thing running through her mind as he tried get her off him. They ended up tumbling downhill, away from the battle. 'Get the others,' She all but ordered Hunter. 'I'll distract him.'
The other wolf was faster than her, for she had to take a moment to will her injured legs to cooperate. And he was on her in a matter of seconds. Diana tried to claw at his neck. Keep him away from her so that she could regain her bearings, but he dodged, snarling both times.
And then he sniffed, his dark eyes flashing dangerously, a low rumble building at his throat, and he glared down at her.
Diana froze as their eyes met. Black clashing against black. What the-
He licked her cheek. What-
She tried to bite his face and he growled again. But after a moment, he acquiesced and backed away.
Then he howled. Once. Twice. And retreated. His legion of wolves followed him a minute later, and the battle was officially over.

Hey peeps. Thanks for all the support once again. So things are moving along, slowly.
I'm not really experienced in writing battle scenes. Or romance. But hey, aren't we all here to learn? :) I know that the meeting is not typical of other werewolf mates meeting, but if you've been paying attention, you'll know why heh...
Also apologies for any grammatical errors. By the way, this story has beaten the number of chapters my other story on wattpad has, so things are looking good.
The next chapter should be up on Thursday or Friday. So stay tuned, read, review, vote and take care!
