A/N: word count — 11000 😖
It's this long becuz I was getting sick of filler chapters. It took me 6 chapters to realize the first 5 were all fillers and I'm so sorry about that :(I made sure to go out of my way to pretend he was invisible.
It was either that or having to admit the fact I seriously just had an orgasm minutes earlier. From grinding his thigh. I didn't think I'd ever done anything so humiliating in my whole life. Well, if I excluded seven years ago too, that was.
I could sense his piercing gaze on me in the elevator, his freshly showered scent entirely overwhelming. Hell, I thought I even smelled a little of my own remnants too, be it from his body or mine. That realization itself made my face flush, and I was relieved he couldn't read minds. The last thing Norman Gage needed to know was how my panties were indeed still damp beneath my skirt.
In contrast to my brooding mood, Norman whistled as he exited the elevator before me. He even twirled the keyring of his car key around his fingers, one hand tucked into his jeans pocket as he headed for his automobile. If he was trying to rile me up with his overly joyful demeanor, it was certainly working.
He waited at the passenger side of his Mercedes, surprising me by opening the car door wordlessly. I expected some sort of witty comment, yet he only whistled anyway.
The moment he took his seat on the driver's side, I whipped out my phone and fiddled with it. There were no texts, only a couple of notifications from shopping apps reminding me of a sale. Nonetheless, I pretended to be busy, tapping away on the screen just so we didn't have to make any conversation.
It was several minutes later when I realized we were on the road, and I hadn't even told him where to go, nor did he ask.
I cleared my throat. "Do you even know where you're going?"
"Ah, you startled me. Never realized there was anyone else in the car." He said in sarcasm.
"You're not going in the right direction. Make a U-turn up front," I instructed.
We passed by the intersection, yet he sped straight ahead.
I might have let out a grunt. "What do you think you're doing? The hospital's the other way."
He focused his gaze on the road diligently, casually driving with one hand on the steering wheel. "I never said I was dropping you off at the hospital."
That made me narrow my eyes. "I never even told you where I live."
I watched as his lips curved into a smirk while he was still facing forward. "You're assuming I don't already know that information."
This time, the frustrated groan that came out of my throat was unmistakable. "Whatever you did to find out better be legal 'cause I swear, I will sue you."
In response, he laughed. Our eyes met for a split second, but I was mostly glad he was a responsible driver who didn't stray much from the road.
"Believe me, Peach. It is all very legal. Everything is in public records. Plus, you're not exactly hard to find."
God, is he infuriating.
Determined to stop communicating with him, I rolled down the window in order to get a little fresh air. Whatever recycled air in the vehicle was making me inhale anger, and I didn't need that negativity first thing in the morning.
Still, I should've seen this coming. Nothing good ever really came from associating with him.
He continued to taunt me about my earlier activities, to which I selectively tuned out by humming a tune in my mind. I stuck my head out the window too, going the extra mile to make it known that I was ignoring him, but that was apparently a badly thought idea.
