Background: Carrie Sharpe and Dayne Murray are still in school together, and in the same grade. Dayne is "known" to be a player, and has taken an interest in Carrie, so he tries to find a way to convince her to see him for him, and not the rumors tossed around. Enjoy!
I woke up, getting ready for school. Deciding to wear my favorite top and shorts, I put on a light layer of makeup, and brushed my hair. Washing my face and brushing my teeth, I was ready for Jane to pick me up.
"CARRIE!" Mom yelled up the stairs. "JANE WILL BE HERE ANY MINUTE! HURRY UP, AND DON'T LEAVE HER WAITING TODAY!"
"AIGHT!" I called back, and grabbed my phone by my bed. Walking downstairs, I had time to reply to DMs before Jane honked at the front of my house. I grabbed my bag, and hugged my mother. "She's here! Love ya, Mom!"
"You doing alright since the breakup, Jane?" I asked, knowing she was disappointed that her ex had turned out to be someone he said he'd never be.
"It was only a few years of my life. I'll be fine. Oh, the dance is coming up, by the way! And I think Bryan is gonna ask me!"
"Isn't he friends with....?"
"Yeah, but hey. He hurt me, I might as well get together with a friend of his."
"True. When is the dance, even though I know nobody is gonna ask?"
"About 7 weeks from now. And girl, if nobody asks you, I'll cancel on Bryan, and we'll go as friends, like every other year one of us didn't have any date to a dance."
"Ah, cool," I said as we got to the school, before heading inside.
"And there he is. The infamous player himself, Dayne Murray," Jane said. "What did I ever see in him?"
"I don't know," I said. "Hey, I'll see you at lunch. Gotta go to my locker, get ready for the day."
"Alright," Jane said, and started to walk away. "Wonder who he's planning on asking?"
"Don't worry about that douche. He ain't worth another thought."
With that, Jane went to her first class, and I walked over to my locker. I saw a paper on it as I walked up, and grabbed it. Filled with a bunch of my favorite candy, it said, "This might be corny, but I think you're pretty sweet. Go to the dance with me?"
"There's only two people here that know my favorite candies. And I doubt Jane did this," I said, turning around to see that Dayne was resting on a locker directly across from mine. "Dayne, you're a damn player! I'm not going to the dance with you!"
"Carrie, I'm not trying to dog on your friend, but things didn't happen the way she told people they happened," Dayne said, and I turned away from him.
"You hurt my best friend, Dayne. I ain't talking to you."
A few hours later, right before lunch, I was back at my locker, putting things away. Another note was on my locker.
"I may not be a photographer, but I can definitely picture us together at the dance. Please give me a chance to explain?"
Once again, Dayne was standing nearby. He raised an eyebrow, and I flipped him off. He shrugged, and I went to lunch.
A few periods later, I was back at my locker once again, getting ready for math. Looking around, I was surprised to not see Dayne there. Unfortunately, a note was.
"Let's be Romeo and Juliet, without the death scene. I'm not the guy you think I am," I read, and looked around. "Dayne Murray, where the fuck are you? I know you're nearby!"
