Walking into the concrete jungle of a school every morning stopped fazing her long ago. Lots of things she found gave her even a spark of human emotion have been stripped away. But she still willingly put up the mask of a bubbly animated girl in hopes that it would seep into her real self.

The twins flanked both sides of her as they followed her into the main building. They weren't actually twins, they weren't even related, but they seemed similar enough to her that the title stuck. They do it on purpose, act like each other without realizing it, they try to be someone they aren't. A constant reminder to keep up with her own facade of big smiles and bursts of energy.

Caroline to her left pulled out her mascara and applied to her already coated lashes as she walked, a skill Aliyah did not know how she acquired. "I don't remember you leaving yesterday, how'd you get out?"

It was important to analyze Caroline's every word, most of the time there was always a hidden comment waiting to be discovered. She was asking if she left with anyone. She would have remembered anything about last night, she was convinced that she could out drink anyone. Even her two closest "friends" didn't know her well enough to understand that she would probably never be leaving with anyone. It was quite sad but Aliyah forced herself to let out a symphonic laugh that even to her sounded too perfect.

Eden from the right raised her chin and clutched her bag tighter as if it would help her listen clearer.

"Girls" she squealed, still laughing in the high pitched she's grown accustomed to using around them, "if she left with anyone important you already know you would be the first to know!" she told them " I just felt a little tired and headed home"

"On your eighteenth birthday party?" scoffing Caroline raised her shaped eyebrow. She continued replacing her sprinkle of bitterness with a sickly sweet tone. "You can always tell us, you know that right."

In the corner of her right eye Aliyah could see Eden vigorously nod her head in agreement. Being the quieter of the two, Eden was no less of a nightmare than Caroline's brown nose proneness. Like the shadow whisperer of the school, Eden seemed to find no difficulty in discovering the hidden secrets of her peers. The pair worked well together to dig information and spread it in just seconds. Her one flaw was not being able to reach things if not bluntly presented to her. Which is why she didn't realize Caroline alluded that Eden didn't have to be in on the "secret" of who Aliyah brought home last night.

"Of course!" Aliyah said smoothly with equal enthusiasm as they made their way through the heavy metal doors held open by a wide eyed freshman. She felt the desire to call out Caroline's snakeish tendency. "Just felt tired and called it a night."

And just like that they accepted the answer and moved on to another topic.

The twins weren't stupid, they could tell something was off about Aliyah especially as they got closer to graduation. Aliyah never strayed away from a good time but recently, they felt like the third musketeer was venturing out alone and they did not like it. They discussed it at their sleepovers; they purposely kept hidden from her and talked behind her back. They went in depth about how selfish, mean, and absorbed she was and then switched topics to boys and then back to Aliyah. Like the typical "obnoxious bitch" she was, the twins would laugh as they mocked her.

"I'm just sooo perfect!" they would pouted their lips as they screeched in accents that did not even remotely sounded like Aliyahs that left them rolling around the bed in tears of laughter. "Even though both my parents can't stand me and left me like every other person in my life."

In reality, although the pair did know Aliyahs parents were constantly coming and going in her life, they didn't know the true extent of how much it affected her. Nor did they really care. The trio had an odd inner working that mutually benefited them all and despite all three having similar feelings towards each other with Caroline and Eden growing closer as Aliyah drifted away, to the naked eye they seemed like the best of friends.
