I was sitting in my empty room alone staring at the ceiling when I heard the door open. I still sat there choosing to ignore the person walking into my room.

"Are you ready to go?" my mom asked while sitting on the floor next to me and stared at the wall in front of us.

"No I will never be ready to go" I responded.

"I know this isn't easy to just pack up and move all the way to Australia, but we have to so I can support us." She sighed and looked over to me. I could feel the tears start to form in my eyes. "It's going to be okay, you will make new friends" she said as she hugged me.

"Okay, let's just go or else we're going to miss our flight" I sighed trying to hold back some tears.

The car ride to the airport was silent. I just stared out the window trying to remember as much of New York as possible.

I grew up in New York and I have never gone anywhere out of New York. I was going to miss Time Square on New Year's Eve. I was going to miss walking around Central Park.  Also, I was going to miss going to the Central Park Zoo with my friends.

I know my mom said I was going to make friends in Australia, but honestly I don't think I will. One of my friends in New York probably wouldn't be my friends now if it wasn't for my mom. My mom and Macy's mom were good friends in college.

My other friend Jonathan and I met in the third grade when he spilt chocolate milk on me and apologized a million times.

"Alyssa, are you okay?" My mom asked waving her hand in front of my face with a concerned look her face.

"Yeah, I'm fine" I lied. I realized the car had stopped and we were outside the airport. I grabbed my bags and walked inside the airport.

After we went through security we were sitting in silence waiting for our plane. My mom decided to break the silence, "How do you feel about starting school in a couple of days?"

School started on Monday and I don't know if I am scared or nervous to start school.

"I don't know" I answered simply because I didn't want to talk about the subject.

"Well you the whole weekend to unpack" she said as if that were to make me feel any better. "We don't have a lot of stuff so it should be easy" she added.

 "Uh-huh" I muttered.

We stood up at the same time after we heard them announce our flight is boarding. I slowly trudged over to the lady and handed her my ticket. I boarded the plane and was immediately greeted by the flight attendants' asking if I needed any help finding my seat.

I quickly and nicely denied as I found my seat. My mom followed behind me. We took a seat and waited patiently in silence for the plane to take off.

After the plane was up in the air I grabbed my iPod and headphones. I searched through my music finally choosing to listen to Backseat Serenade. Damn, this song is so good. I tried my best not to annoy the other passengers by singing.

I thought I was fine until Dear Maria, Count me in came on and I almost died. 'Fuck you, Alex Gaskarth for having an amazing voice.'

After about 16 hours of reading, listening to music, drinking orange juice, and random napping I made up my mind that I was going to take another nap.

'I'm running through the park on a nice summer day with my friends in New York. There were beautiful flowers everywhere and kids playing on the playground.'

"Alyssa wake up" my mom shook me, it was just a dream. Oh well, it was good while lasted. I  miss days like that where my friends and I would play fútbol.

"Alyssa? Are you awake? We're here." my mom said with a happy tone in her voice.

"Yes but I don't want to be awake" I said while opening my eyes. The plane was stopped and were getting their stuff and leaving. My mom had already gotten our carry-ons. I stood up and took my bag my mom. We walked off the plane and my mom was grabbing her phone to a cab.

"I'll be right back, I am going to call for a cab" I nodded and she walked away. I stood by the door of the airport and took in all the beauty.

"Wow" I said thinking no one was around. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" a staff lady questioned which made me jump a little because I wasn't expecting her presence.

"Oh, I'm sorry i didn't mean to scare you." she apologized. "No, it's fine I just didn't know you were there and yes it is amazing here." I said giving her a smile.

A/N

If anyone is reading this fanfic, Sorry this was a small chapter. They will be getting bigger. Also, the first 2 or 3 chapters will be small fillers like this, just getting to know more about Alyssa.

Before I see anyone commenting on this. Aleisha (Luke's ex-girlfriend)  and Alyssa are different people.

Anyway, I have plans for this. So, that would be great if you wanted to keep reading it.

Sorry this was stupid. Thank you for reading.
