"we're very sorry 4001 but we can no longer afford to keep you in service with how expensive you are to keep maintained. Please understand that you will be missed by all of us." The SDF official stated in a flat tone.
"That's bullshit Greg, and you know it. The SDF couldn't wait to shunt and replace me." The old ex Union Pacific Big Boy scoffed.
"They never even bothered to replace my outdated systems ten years ago."Upon hearing this the official sighed
"Listen Christie. I'm sorry this had to happen. If it were my choice I'd give you a passenger line to run on."
Christie let out a sad laugh
"I know you would Greg, but I'm a heavy freight locomotive. Not a Pacific. Goodbye old Friend, and safe travels"Greg nodded at that. "I hope someone finds a use for a girl like you." He stated as he walked away.
"I hope they do" Christie whispered as she watched him leave
