The Awakening Part 1 - Chapter 8

Mike nodded " I just had a moment to see her in her Tiger form , she reverted to human almost instantly after passing out. Though what I saw was a very large angry tiger. Oh and one other thing that was really strange. When she first started shifting she couldn't fixate on a form, suddenly the door, which I had fully locked, opened on its own and her small kitten came in. Both their eyes glowed and that's when Tali shifted fully."

I realized something "Master, when I was shopping for the kitten Ma'at directed me to that specific one. Their must have been a reason?"

He nodded "I really think there is, I have never seen her do something for no reason, she cares very much for her sister."

Mike, thinking back on my Master's story, then said "What happened to the lineage she created, how come it vanished?"

My Master knew so much it was sometimes intimidating. "In her ancient Egypt incarnation Tali's blood was much weaker so she could not shift. Though, through her bite she was still capable of creating weres of all kind, with the help of her sister. Since she loved animals and weres so much, she surrounded herself with them. Somehow, every were she created was an enforcer that was ferociously protective of her and his or her pack. Also, their first born was always a true blooded enforcer as well. This created the lineage you mentioned."

Master took a time to breath, something he had to do consciously due to having been a vampire for so long "Towards the fall of the ancient egyptian era, a pack of Tainted wolves had grown extremely large. They were known as the Shadow Pack. Legend says that Gaïa herself created them specifically to kill Tali. But we didn't hear about the attack enough in advance for us to react properly, sadly. We summoned the entire pack who had spread throughout the world to help other packs, but it was not enough. They were decimated to the last in a trap set for them by the Shadow Pack. Tali was murdered not long after, her blood being too weak to bring her back to us."

To hear the story of my wife being killed was devastating to me, it felt like it had just happened. Mike was no better, I could see it in his eyes.

My Master Continued "Not long after, we got reports from all around the world that the children sired by Tali were being assassinated one by one. Quickly there were none left. When we arrived where Tali had died, we found this note."

He handed me the parchment, and I read it for Mike as it was in ancient egyptian.

"Dear children.

If you are reading this it means the time has come for me to pass on and hide again for the last time.

Do not blame yourselves with my death for it was pre-ordained.

I have all taught you all how to find me, So keep an eye for me will you? 

When I come back to you I will have lost my memories of you all so I apologize in advance. I trust you with my safety.

You will forever be my family,

Your Master."

I was frozen in place, I could not think or move. My Master came to me, took the note and hugged me tight. "It's OK dear, she's back for good now." He then rocked me gently back and fort.

Mike broke the silence for us "I heard of the Shadow pack, they had completely vanished but for the past twelve years more and more reports of new sighting came to me."

As if on cue an alarm started blaring all around the compound, preventing any further questions from being asked. A lot was left to answer and my Master had probably left a few questions hanging.

Mike got up and started running to the surveillance room, with us in tow. Once in the room the guard on duty said "Some wolves just broke the external perimeter of the property. We got sight of 2 of them."

He showed us the image of two black smokey wolves. He paused the image and zoomed in on the head of the one on the left "There on his forehead, you see?"

Mike looked and suddenly started swearing he pointed at what looked like a pitch black half crescent moon. "Shadow Pack!" he almost spat the last part. "How long till they get here?"

"About ten minutes or so."

Mike took a microphone and started speaking in it. All throughout the base everyone could hear him "OK people, this is not a drill, we are under attack by the Shadow pack. We are going full tech on this one, no shifting. Also bring your protective crystals, one bite from them and you become tainted and one of theirs forever. So no slipping it's your souls in the balance peeps. Now let's GO!"

A servant came in quickly with a big suitcase and handed it to Mike"Sir, your equipment".

Mike took his suitcase and started putting on a full Kevlar suit. Once done he set a protection crystal on a socket on the chest piece and closed a door to hide it. Instantly a shimmering glow appeared all around him like a second suit. "Damn I like these magical trinkets.".

"you two make sure no human or vampire exits the house please, this pack is vicious and won't hesitate to rip everyone's throat open. "

Mike was right, most of my staff was human and the few vampires on the premises were not really the warrior types. With Tali down though, my Master's help would be welcome.

Reading my mind, Master answered for me "We have your back on this end, you go take care of those wolves."

Mike nodded and left.

**In the forest, two of Mikes pack members searching**

We had been searching, moving as silently as possible towards the enemy.It was night and these wolves had the uncanny ability to stay quasi invisible. We had heard them twice, but with no visual contact yet.

I then heard a branch snap on my left, so signaled my partner. We looked to the left when she reacted to something on her right signaling a sound there. All of a sudden, we heard two shots and a bullet went straight through my magical shield and my Kevlar plating, exploding into my shoulder. I could see grey smoke coming out.

Painfully I pressed the on button on my communicator and said "Guys they are shooting bullets with the taint in...." I never finished my phrase as alien thoughts entered my mind and I passed out seeing my partner writhing on the ground.
