Dream left his house, locking the door behind him. He had just finished publishing a video with George.

Heh.

George.

Why did his best friend's name make his heart flutter with joy? Originally he had planned on going for a walk and clearing his thoughts. This was one of the main reasons.

So there he was.

Standing in front of his door.

Not walking.

Dream was snapped back into reality by the giggling of young girl. His eyes darted across the street, watching the girl as she laughed, tossing the ball into the air and catching it. He smiled as he walked down the steps and onto the sidewalk. He wondered why she was alone, even if it wasn't any of his business.

Dream looked further down the sidewalk across the street, spotting a couple holding hands and waving ahead. He assumed they were in their late twenties or early thirties. Why did he even care? It wasn't any of his business and he couldn't care less.

Why did he look?

He shook his head and began to walk, his hands tucked into his hoodie's pockets. It was Florida temperature, however, Dream still wore a hoodie outside.

Dream watched as cars went by, stopping at red lights and starting their engines back up when it turned green.

He looked at the people outside their houses. An occasional group of adults here and there, with children drawing chalk on the sidewalk.

It really did feel nice being outside.

Dream sucked in the outdoor air through his nose.

His mind was relaxed.

George's laugh echoed through Dream's mind like an endless void he kept falling in forever. He could feel his cheeks turn hot.

What's wrong with me?

Dream looked over and saw the girl again, still throwing her ball into the air. Until, she didn't catch it. The ball bounced off a lamppost she was near and rolled into the street. The girl went after the ball laughing, not looking both ways. Dream looked behind him and saw a car coming. His heart began to race, he couldn't just stand there. Not when that girl has a whole life ahead of her.

The girl ran into the street, picking up her ball.

Without thinking, Dream's feet began moving. The movement became faster as he got closer to the girl, pushing her onto the concrete away from the car.

In the process of doing so,

Dream was hit by a car.

The last thing he saw was the blue ball reflecting the girl's sparkling sapphire eyes as she looked back up at him in shock. He managed to sneak a smile, his last thought before blacking out kept booming in his brain.

I don't regret a thing.

A/N: Hey guys! What do you think of the story so far? I have a pretty clear idea in my mind what the story is about. I intentionally wanted to keep this chapter short and sweet to prepare for the next one which will be a bit longer. Feel free to comment any mistakes I've made, and stay tuned!
