"I never thought you would be this good." He smirked."Because I'm a woman?" She asked with clear disgust in her voice.
"Because you're a mortal."
That confused Sakura. Was he a demon or ghost? His abilities in martial arts were very good so it could be either one.
"Tell me, how did you become this skilled when your just a mortal woman? Who's your teacher."
"I don't have to answer the likes of you."
Sasuke could only grin at her words and actions. She seemed perfect enough to use his powers to their full abilities. His eyes shined and suddenly the pattern of his red eyes changed.
"Sasuke!" Naruto yelled which caused Sasuke to stop himself. "If you hurt her I'll rip you apart. Not even Madara would be able to save you then."
He walked in front of Sasuke giving him a cold stare. Sasuke would have to withdraw this time. He did realize he wasn't really acting like himself just then. He has never got so worked up for a fight that he became so ruthless. That mortal woman was quite intoxicating.
"I apologize. I was out of line just now." He unexpectedly bowed his head towards Sakura.
Naruto raised his eyebrow. 'He hasn't even apologized to me yet.'
"Yeah, yeah, just go sit over their while I talk with Sakura." Naruto brushed off his apology and took Sakura to the other side under the tree. Sasuke wanted to be offended but he had no right after all the stuff he's pulled.
The blonde sat Sakura down and started to slowly explain what happened over the past month. Every painful, happy, sad, and peaceful detail was told to her. He didn't bother to lie or hide anything since he needed to talk with someone about the recent events. It took an hour to explain everything and by the end of it Sakura needed a minute to take it all in.
"I should have been there with you and protected you. I'm sorry Naruto."
Naruto sighed and patted her head.
"I'm fine now. Everything has been going smoothly and I've gained a lot of family and friends. I'll be able to visit more often."
Sakura was delighted to hear that. She was still a bit confused but she wanted to support the blonde anyway she can. "Well let's have some fun before you have to go back. For old times sake!"
Naruto felt a sense of of nostalgia and relief seeing Sakura so upbeat. He smiled brightly. "Yeah, it would be fun."
It's felt like forever since he's actually smiled.
Just outside the edge of the barrier Naruto heard some of the bushes rustling. If he didn't live in this forest all his life maybe Naruto would mistook it for an animal but that's not a presence of an animal. The feeling it gave off was oddly familiar to one he has encountered before. Naruto was drowsy and weary at the time but he still remembered that cold shiver he got anytime he was near him. It was a snake.
He couldn't enter obviously.
Naruto ignored it for now. He got up with Sakura and made his way to Sasuke.
"Why don't you two go ahead? I have to do something here real quick." Naruto wasn't exactly lying.
"But Naruto if-," she was cut off.
"I'll be fine. I just have to take care of something, okay?" He reassured.
She was a bit hesitant to leave him alone especially with what has happened. The blonde pulled back Sasuke and leaning towards his ear.
