"yoongi?"
yoongi jumped out of his skin. he recognized that voice.
he quickly pushed himself off the floor, stumbling to his feet as he wiped his eyes with the sleeves of his sweater. he spun around with an awkward half smile, cursing under his breath.
hoseok's eyes were wide as he looked at yoongi. his smile was terribly awkward, anyone could see that. hoseok blinked a few times before yoongi cleared his throat, replacing his smile with a frown.
"do you need something?"
hoseok looked down slightly, tilting his head, "well, not really..." his voice trailed on, yoongi was hopeful for a moment before hoseok continued, "i just- what do you think of my girlfriend, you just walked off-"
yoongi's heart dropped. "i think she's cool." he shrugged attempting to seem nonchalant. hoseok only eyed him a little curiously.
"if there's nothing else," yoongi just nodded at him before walking past. hoseok grabbed his wrist with furrowed brows, spinning yoongi around.
"what do you mean, 'nothing else'?" hoseok scoffed, dropping his wrist as yoongi's eyes were wide and a blush spread across his cheeks. hoseok stuffed his hands into his pockets.
"we're friends, do i need an excuse to go and look for you?"
yoongi only turned away, shaking his head slightly and exhaling as the blush began to fade. just friends. the phrase was said so often, you'd think yoongi would get used to it. yet it hurt the same every time.
"just go to class." yoongi sighed, grabbing the handle to the restroom harshly as hoseok stared at him. yoongi just needed time alone to process his thoughts and think of something besides hoseok for the time being.
"why? where are you going?" hoseok followed him out.
yoongi kept walking, eyeing the gates that led outside the school. he started running toward the school doors that led out into the field where you could easily jump the fence and leave the school. they'd done it a couple times last year.
suddenly yoongi felt a harsh tug at his wrist and he almost shrieked out loud as hoseok clamped his hand over his mouth, closet door closed behind them quietly. hoseok let out soft breaths as yoongi looked at him with wide eyes.
then he heard the clacking of heels, the sound every student at this school could recognize within seconds. principal park's footsteps had the familiar obnoxious clack to them, the clack that you knew you'd be handed a detention if you heard them come your way.
yet yoongi found the sound muffled in his ears as hoseok's eyes locked on to his, he almost felt his heart stop in his chest as the heat flooded to his cheeks. there was a moment of hesitation, a moment yoongi wouldn't forget as his heart pounded against his ribs, the space between his and hoseok's face was too close to be comfortable.
kiss him.
... well-
NO. no! are you fucking crazy?
yoongi pushed the thoughts out of his head as he quickly shoved hoseok off of him with shaky breaths and hoseok stumbled back, looking at him. the silence between them was deafening.
then, to yoongi's surprise, hoseok smiled. a smile so bright, it seemed to light up the dark room. yoongi almost... almost smiled with him. but he held it back.
"god, we haven't been caught by her in ages! you were running so carelessly, i thought our streak would be ruined." he chuckled slightly, opening the door to the closet once the footsteps could no longer be heard.
"what were you so worked up about anyway? if you wanted to ditch, you could've just said so." hoseok said, shrugging slightly as he pushed opened the door that led to the field. yoongi sighed, his heart beat finally slowing down as he hesitantly followed hoseok out.
hoseok grinned as he got a running start to jump the fence. yoongi watched as hoseok effortlessly jumped and clung on to the top of the fence, lifting, then flinging himself over as he landed on the opposing side. he always landed in his iconic position, where one knee was on the ground while his other leg kept him stable, one hand that slid and rested on the concrete.
he thought it looked so cool, and yoongi wouldn't admit it, but it was pretty cool.
yoongi, on the other hand, only walked up to the fence, hoisting himself up halfway as he climbed, then slowly dropping himself on the other side.
hoseok laughed as he looked at how yoongi stepped softly on the ground and dusted his hands off on his pants. yoongi looked up to him with a raise of an eyebrow before rolling his eyes.
"not everyone has to pretend they're in an action movie, hoseok." yoongi walked off, shoving his hands in his pockets.
hoseok smiled widely as he walked up and slung his arm over yoongi's shoulder. yoongi tensed up a bit, the familiar skip in his heartbeat and the smiled that threatened his lips made yoongi feel all warm inside.
why was he being so tense?
he sighed. he decided to relax, forget about everything, and enjoy spending time with hoseok. this would probably be a rare occasion once hoseok started to hang out with his girlfriend. for now, yoongi would just hang with hoseok, and he would cherish these times.
and so he smiled, looking up at hoseok as hoseok looked down at him with his signature grin.
"let's go!" hoseok started to run, forcing yoongi to keep up with him with a groan.
it was gonna be a fun day.
