All-Might's POV:
Quickly thinking over everything that had happened, I felt a burst of confidence. "We're going to save Eraserhead, of course! That trail of... blood surely is our best chance at finding them, if we wait it may soak up before we can come back. So, what are we waiting for?!" We were so close, the most logical way to proceed was to run into the situation head first and save our friends!
Present Mic considered nervously. "Alright... Yeah! Let's do it!" Feeling a burst of confidence, I felt a lot less afraid of the near pitch black and constant sound of rats squeaking and scratching about. I was more than ready to face whatever villains there were head on! I grinned, feeling a new sense of determination fuel me to go forth in our mission.
Something we had noticed as we followed the broken blood trail was how the sound of rats didn't get any quieter; staying at about the same volume. In fact, I could've sworm it was getting louder. Instead of six or seven rats, there were more like ten, then twenty, and then thirty! The scratching was constant and nearby we could hear the faint sound of some rats that were likely mid-fight. That was more concerning than anything, it meant that there was something to fight over...
The splatters of blood had become scarce. That was a good sign for Eraserhead, but that lead was the only thing we could rely on to get us through the tunnels! At some point we realized that the blood drips had completely stopped, and so did we. "Well... That's inconvenient. At least we can be assured that Eraserhead's bleeding has stopped!" I said with a smile. That was the most important thing: making sure Eraserhead would be okay. They could find their way to him, he just needed to stay as safe as possible until they arrived.
"So-" I started, being interrupted by Present Mic. He seemed hyped up by his realization.
"The rats," Mic said. "Let's follow the rats. They keep getting louder, so it only makes sense that that pattern will continue, yo," he said with a grin.
"It's better than blindly wandering about," I shrugged. "It's possible that that's just been a coincidence though. We'll have to keep our wits about us." I say. The shorter blond quickly nodded. I hoped that we were right to trust something as fickle as the sound of rats in the walls to guide us to our fellow pros. It was our only real hope to get through the tunnels. A thing we had both noticed while venturing the dark halls was how many diverging paths there were. When we had all come in here, we expected it to just be a small half-assed maze created to poorly hide any villainous activities. We were wrong, so wrong. This tunnel system was huge-- there's no way it was all dug out in less than a few years.
I looked around the walls. There were scratch marks embedded into the texture of the walls. This wasn't made with a shovel or explosives, it was dug out manually. 'It's amazing,' I thought in awe, how could I not be amazed! 'It's amazing how this was probably built under the noses of everybody in this city. Nobody knew about it. It's sad that we have to report it to the police, they'll have to fill it in to avoid sink-holes. It's for the best.' I got lost in my thoughts, slowly drifting back into control of my thoughts. I question whether it had been two minutes or ten, concluding that it honestly didn't matter. What did matter was the mission and getting it done discreetly, at least for now.
Taking a look around, I noticed that the hallway we had been going through was growing much wider and taller than the smaller ones diverging from it. We knew we were finally there when we had to stop just before a turn when we heard faint voices. I turned to Present Mic. The Radio Hero seemed to already have a plan. People didn't often realize how intelligent he actually was thanks to his usual boisterous attitude. "Neither of our quirks are suited for underground. We should focus on the rescue part of the mission. I feel like it'd be easier to sneak around if you weren't in your muscle form," I couldn't help but chuckle a little as I noticed Mic struggle to keep his voice low. He knew that now was not the time for his noisy tendencies to manifest and I had to admit, it was amusing to watch him struggle with his volume.
