"What do you mean by "the one?"" I asked, my voice shaky and quiet. My instinct was to pull my leg out of Morgan's hand, but I fought against the urge, deciding that it was safer to stay calm and not fight back for now.
"I doubt she is, Glitch," Colt said as he rolled his eyes, folding his arms over his chest and looking up at Morgan and me.
"I can feel it, Colten," Morgan said with a sadistic smile, her grip tightening as she looked down at me. "I know she is."
"That's what you said the other five times," Colt said unenthused, rolling his eyes again as he took a deep breath. "What is so different about her?"
"She doesn't know who Harry is." Cassi piped in, her eyes shifting quickly from Colt to Morgan and back again. "She probably just found the game accidentally or something."
"What difference does that make?" Morgan asked rhetorically, her tone becoming aggressive and annoyed.
"You know what, Glitch?" Colt asked as he stood up, walking over to the stage and leaning onto the side of it, his head poking over the top. "I might just sit this one out. I admit I am a little curious as to how she would affect things if she really did get in here by mistake."
"So you finally see the light, huh?" Morgan smirked and knelt in front of Colt, looking into his eyes - emerald green with orange-brown specks flowing within. "I don't buy it."
"It was worth a shot. Do I get brownie points for trying?"
She narrowed her eyes at Colt before pushing her free hand against his forehead, shoving him down onto the hard floor. "Cassi, why don't you be a doll and go get me the box?" Morgan spoke in a sweet, angelic tone - nothing at all like how she had been acting so far. She came across as manipulative, machiavellian at her core. However, her smile shifted from savage and heartless to warm and welcoming.
Cassi's eyes lit up as she looked into Morgan's, and soon she was smiling herself. "Of course, Morgy!" She exclaimed as she rose to her feet, happily jogging to the stairs on the side of the stage and hopping up like a little child. She went behind the curtain to the back of the stage, making a few loud noises before coming back onto the main stage. She was dragging a large box behind her; it was black with red splatters over the top that I couldn't bear to look at or think about.
Colt swallowed hard once he saw the box, and his expression shifted from confident to anxious. "I don't think we need the box, Cass." He said nervously, chewing on his lip as he rose out of the floor. "Remember Kelly and how she hated that box?"
"Stop trying to trigger her, Colten." Morgan had returned to her original heartless demeanor, and her eyebrows furrowed as she glared down at Colt.
"What do you mean by "trigger?" Cassi asked naively, her eyes wide and impressionable. "Ten, do you know what she's talking about?"
"Who said I was trying anything?" Colt asked innocently, a smile of confidence returning to his lips and a glint of hope shimmering through his eyes once again. "I sure didn't. Did you, Cassi?"
"I didn't say anything!" Cassi set the box down on the floor beside me before turning and looking at Morgan. She hooked her arms behind her back and turned the corners of her lips down, slightly sticking out her lower lip in a pout as she spoke again. "You're not kicking him out again, are you?"
Colt smirked up at Cassi as Morgan glared down at him. "He's plotting something, Cassiopeia! Can't you-" Morgan looked back at Cassi, her begging expression seeming to get to her. Morgan sighed and swallowed hard, taking a deep breath and shooting Cassi an obviously fake smile. "Fine. Stop guilting me and get on with it."
"Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" Cassi squealed and ran to Morgan, throwing her arms around her once again.
Morgan gasped and took a step back, pushing Cassi back towards the box and me. "I said get on with it!"
"Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?" Cassi gasped and covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes big and wide. "I'm so sorry, Morgy!"
"Cassiopeia!" Morgan shouted, her eyes becoming like nothing I had ever seen before in my entire life. Her eyes, if they could even be considered that, suddenly erupted into flames of red - deep crimson red. They looked like seas of blood flowing in free circles, seemingly glowing in the dim light. I could see them clearly, even from several feet away. The sight of them had been burned into my retinas, and I had a feeling that I would never be able to forget how her eyes burned so vividly.
Cassi gasped and backed away from Morgan, her eyes tearing up slightly as her lip quivered and shook. "M-Morg..."
"What?!" Morgan snapped, taking a step towards Cassi. She peered up into her eyes and froze when she saw the tears she was helping to create. The red colour drained from her eyes, returning to their natural grey as she sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Cassi, I-I'm sorry... Just... Just don't cry, alright?" Her tone sounded sincere; it was like she was genuinely concerned and cared for Cassi. "I just really, really want to get on with it."
"So do I." Colt declared smugly. The last thing I saw was the determined, satisfied smirk on Colt's face as he spoke - the last thing I saw before everything around us went completely and utterly pitch black.
