The Early Catch

Chapter One

Alexa's POV

Today's the first day of senior high and I am as nervous as butterflies. It's typical for everyone to arrive very late in order to miss orientation and the whole weirdness that comes with the first day of a new class, but this time, I want to get there as early as possible.

Here's why.

Last summer, I had gone to London to see my grandparents and rumors flew around our little community high school about my boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend, Blake.
He had supposedly cheated on me with Maria Brown, the biggest slut in school.
No surprise there, she sticks her mouth anywhere.

Personally I didn't mind because I was done with him long before the incident. It was an off fling that faded quickly.

Everyone expects me to be heartbroken so I can't afford to show up late and receive insincere pitiful eyes from all my pretentious classmates. They all are fake anyway.

I get to school around 7am and choose a perfect sitting desk and get my things settled in. A few classmates have arrived and are settling in. Mostly girls which I find a bit weird because the girls in my school love attention and would do anything to make a big late entrance.

As I sit on my desk and pretend to be busy with my drawing pad, I see him.

My school is really small that everyone knows each other's last name so seeing someone new is such a thrill. Except for the fact that everyone swarms them like bees to honey.

He is tall, very tall. He has this dark and mysterious look that draws me to him instantly. I stare at him walk down the hall to his class, then I notice I was not the only one staring. All the girls literally run to the door to check him out, pathetic.

'Earth to Lexi' Jorja says and waves her hands frantically in front of my face.

'Jorja! Omg I haven't seen you in ages' I scream and throw her into a giant bear hug.
We burst into a giggle fit and almost land on the floor.

'I have literally stood here for three minutes man, what the heck is going on in your dark and twisty mind?' she asks with a smirk on her face.

Jorja is my closest friend in the entire school, she's a very hyper human and knows me the most. We have known each other since the very first day of school but we instantly didn't get along until we were lumped in the same class and forced to love each other.

'Twisted J, dark and twisted' I laugh.

'Grey's Anatomy references are so dead on you' she says rolling her eyes.

'Did you see the new hottie? All the girls were drooling, even Mia the freak.' she chimes.

'Yes, man whore, I saw him' I laugh 'He really isn't that hot.'

'I really am not surprised, since you thought Blake the jerk was hot.' she says sneeringly.

'We don't talk about that, he's old news, he can have Maria, they suit each other. Slut plus jerk, perfect.'
I say blandly.

'Ouuu fiesty' she says chuckling. 'How was London?'

'London was good. Did you go have fun with your Aunt Mina?' I ask

'Aunt Mina's was a total mess. The divorce is really taking a toll on her'

Jorja continues to talk about her heartbroken aunt and all my mind can think of is the new mysterious guy. He intrigued me.

Hottie my ass.

He is probably just a jerk, like all the newbies, I think to myself. They all feed off the attention and play all the desperate girls.
