Alexa's POV

I enter the classroom assigned to the science club with a sad sigh. I didn't want to draw any attention to myself so I walk quickly to the back of the class and sit on an empty seat.

Just out of the corner of my eye, I see him again. The new guy who's name I still don't know. He's here. In loser club.

He is seated with Natalie, a girl from my class. They seem very close, they are talking and laughing. Seems like a good time. Weird.
Natalie has a boyfriend but whatever, that was not my problem.

Time goes by quite quickly and Natalie leaves with her backpack, probably going home. I don't know why I'm still watching him. I have no idea what is happening in this club, all I know is that I want out.

Mr Saheed, the head of this whole circus show, obviously, steps out of the room to get God knows what and I immediately drop my head on the table.

This is torture. I open my phone and see pictures posted on our 'FRIENDS❤️🧚' groupchat of Jorja and Kim having cupcakes in Jorja's house. Great, just great. I should be doing that.

I might as well slip out of here, I might still meet a few cupcakes if I leave now.

But then I look at the him again. His head is down on his table. He looks so peaceful.
God why do I keep thinking of this boy?

With guts that grow out of nowhere, I walk up to his table and knock on it. I can't believe I'm doing this. He looks up, quite startled.

'Hey' I say unprepared. Hey? Just hey? He's going to hate me so much.

'Hello there' he replies, staring me dead in the eye.

'Umm, I saw you drifting off over here, are you fine?'

'Yeah, just tired'

'I'm Alexa'

'Jeremy'

'Nice name'

'Yeah' he replies and puts his head right back on the table. Okay, kind of rude. Really rude. But can't blame the poor guy, I literally knocked on his table.

I walk back to my seat and all the thoughts of escaping this club evaporates for my mind. I find myself staring at him sleep. Jeremy.

(Later that evening)

Texts between Blake and Alexa

B: Hey babe.

A: What do you want Blake? I am not your babe. Are you on drugs again?

B: Lexi, honey, yes I took some weed and I'm high and but would you please listen to me? I love you

A: Stop calling me those sickening names. You know where you can stick your love, up my freaking ass.

B: Just listen to me, give me one more chance. Can I call?

A: Good bye.

B: Alexa? You there??

Blake decides to text me this particular night for some messed up reason I don't care to know about.

Now you see, I don't completely despise Blake. He isn't the most horrible human but he doesn't know how to act right and I'm not here for it. Girls like to date bad guys so they can 'change' them. The energy for that is so far from me.

If he wants to get fixed, he'll put in some goddamn effort.

             °Two days later at school°

'Here is the list of the people who had their assignments on my table before 8am, if your name is not on this list, you must come to my office to serve your punishment.' our English teacher said sternly in front of the class.

Well I'm screwed then.

'Lexi, pssst... did you make it?' Jorja whispers to me.

'Not this time J, it's really hard to keep up with all these assignments, ughh' I say frustrated, tired and worn out from the activities of the science club yesterday.
Mr Saheed had insisted that we all worked on individual innovations and present him a blueprint before we could leave.

Apparently he could do that.

Teachers have been given so much unreasonable power these days.

Plus, Jeremy didn't show up at science club. Something I couldn't help but notice. I wished he did, maybe I would have been able to make up for the awkward conversation we had.

Natalie appeared absent as well, a little bit suspicious if you ask me.

'Me too, I was out with Benny all through yesterday' Jorja says with wishful eyes, disorienting my train of thought.

Okay, that's a surprise. Jorja never commits to anything. Or anyone.

'You guys are a thing now? I thought it was a fling'

'I like him, a lot' she says giggling.

I have never seen Jorja act this way before.

'Miss Greens, Miss Brickwood, have anything to say to class?' seems like the English teacher was not having our little discussion.

'No sir' we mumble.

'Good' he says with a scowl on his face. He never smiles.

The bell finally goes off and I stand up to go with the English teacher, along side some of my other grumbling classmates.

I really want out of this punishment and will do anything to just have a normal lunch break, so I walk up to the English teacher who was leading the pack of defaulters.

'Excuse me sir, can I talk to you? I really have a good reason for not turning in my assignment in time' I say in the sweetest teacher's pet voice I could mimick.

'I don't want to hear it. If you set your mind on something, you'd actually ensure you do it.' he retorts.

'But sir...' I say almost rolling my eyes.

'Don't want to hear it Miss Greens!' he practically yells.

Now here's the pickle. Our empty headed teacher decided that the right time to yell was when we were just walking through Jeremy's class. Now all eyes are on me.

I look into his class and immediately our eyes met. We stare at each other for two very long seconds and I pull myself away from his gaze in embarrassment.

What a great impression I have made. Just great.
