Goodbye

Goodbye.
It could be for a while, or it could be forever. But nonetheless Goodbyes suck.
While getting dressed to go to the airport, my only thought was how could I say goodbye to everything that I've grown up with!
All 18 years of my life, I've lived here. Amsterdam. I was born here, I had my family here, my friends, My dreams....
And here I was, leaving it all behind.
How will I manage life in the UK. I knew absolutely no one there!
I was snapped out of thought when I heard my phone ring. I smile as I heard the familiar tune to Chasing cars. If there's one thing that would never change about me, that would be my love for Grey's Anatomy.
I did not answer the phone as I was already running late. I got dressed into a comfy pair of trousers, a matching tshirt, and wrapped my scarf. (Not the very descriptive kind when it comes to outfits! But image is given!)
I went downstairs to find breakfast served. Alia and mama(mom) weren't coming to the airport. So it was just me and dada(Dad).

"Ani!" Exclaimed my mother. "Come quick darling have something to eat. I've made toast."
"Nah mama I'm not that hungry. I'll just have a cup of coffee"
My mother looked at me disapprovingly, but did not say a word. So I sat down, had a cup of coffee, and hurried back into my room to get my backpack.
The rest of my bags were already being loaded into the car. So I did a quick check that I had my most essential belongings in my backpack.
Passport - Check, Ticket - Check, A book to read - Check, and a few more essentials inside.

I took one final look at my room, and headed downstairs, my mom and Ali were standing at the end of the stairs, ready to say goodbye.
I hugged my mom first,

"Good luck honey. You're gonna do great!"
I smiled at her, "Insha Allah, mama."

Ali was already in tears as I hugged her,
"Take care of yourself. And of our parents. I'm gonna miss you Ali!"

She cried onto my shoulders, "I'll miss you too... I love you"

I smiled, "I love you too!" And with that, I got into the car, and dad drove off, away from all my comfort, towards a place completely foreign to me.

"You're gonna be fine Anika." My dad's words made me smile.

"Thanks Dada. Please make sure you take care of yourself and mama and Ali" I said
My father smiled.

We reached the airport with 30 minutes to spare. So I had to be quick.
I gave my father a hug, told my goodbyes, and proceeded into the airport.

Each step I took towards the terminal, made me feel heavier. I knew I would break down crying at any moment. To prevent this from happening, I blocked out my own thoughts with some music.

"Tell me with your mind, body and spirit
I can make your tears fall down like the showers that are British
Whether we're together or apart
We can both remove the masks and admit we regret it from the start"

I couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
Oh Alia. I hope I meet One direction. I could call Alia right there, and get forget her words.

I let out a small smile as I pictured her face if I ever meet them.

I was deep in tonight when I bumped into someone, dropped my book.

"I'm so sorry!" I exclaim turning towards whoever I bumped into and am met with the most enticing blue eyes I've ever seen.
