He read stories where people wake up and it takes a couple seconds to remember what happened but that didn't happen to him. The second be opened his eyes he already remembered last night. He laid in bed not wanting to believe what happened but nothing can change what he knows. He looks over at his alarm clock which read "7:28"
He usually wakes up around 10 after movie nights so they shouldn't check on him for a few hours. He slowly sat up and looked around the room. He was scanning the room for what he would take with him but he was unsure if he could run away. He would need to abandon his phone and anything that could have a tracker.
He stood up and went to his closet. As he dragged a bag for vacations put he started shoving clothes in not caring if they unfolded. He spent around 30 minutes decided what would be safe to take. Once he finally got everything in the bag he put it back in his closet and went back to his bed. He pulled his phone out and scrolled through social media. He saw the usual normal people doing normal things, he was jealous. They get to have normal lives while he has to deal with his murderous family.
It was 9 am. He'd soon have to deal with his family. It's weird to think he doesn't want to be around his family. He always wanted to be with them and have fun. But seeing your family have someone tied to a chair and a gunshot heard really can change the relationship. With this extra time he should probably think of how he'd escape.
He'd take the bag with him and try to get to the elevator. He'll have to go late at night so everyone is asleep. But Friday would be a problem, he'll have to hack into the tower and enter some codes to allow him to leave and not alert the others.
But when should he leave? Today? He does want to leave as fast as possible.
His thoughts were interrupted with a knock. "Hey kiddo you awake?" He heard his father on the other side of the door. "Uh yeah just getting dressed" he said and he heard footsteps walking away.
Well crap now he has to go out and face all of them. He waited for around 5 minutes before he stepped out his door. He looked down the hall. No one. But as he walked towards the penthouse he could hear laughter and talking. He turned the corner and saw them. His aunt Nat noticed him and he flashed a quick tired smile. He got a bowl, some cereal, and milk and ate. "So what should we do today Pete?" His dad asked.
He blanked a little. He forgot they usually do something fun on Saturdays. Then he had an idea. "Oh I, uh. Sorry I have plans with Ned. We've been planning to make a functional Lego robot." He said apologetic. His dad's smile faltered but then it went back to normal. "Okay Peter but let us know when we can do something after" his dad said cheerful. He nodded and finished. "I'll be at Ned's house, I'm bringing some materials, I'll be using my bag for vacation to bring them." He said and quickly left to his room. He had everything packed. He rolled it down the hallway in the penthouse and to the elevator. "See you later" he said and the doors closed.
It was a lie but he didn't exactly feel bad for lying to his family. As the elevator opened and he rushed out the lobby he pulled his phone and dialed Ned. "Hey dude" Ned answered. "Hey Ned so can you cover for me, my family will be asking when I'll be back just stall as long as possible" he pleaded. "Uh sure dude but why? What are you doing?" Ned asked. "I uh. I just need to do something alone and need time so just do this for me" he said. "Ok well be back home soon" Ned said. "Thanks" he said and hung up. He walked about 4 meter before he tossed his phone down the gutter along the curb.
Well he's doing it. He quickly got a cab to stop and he got in. Well here he was doing what he never thought he would do. He stared out the window getting lost in all the lights and billboards in New York. It was about 30 minutes before the cab stopped he was at the docks. He quickly started walking to the ferry docking station. He got a ticket and got on. He looked out on the city and just now the situation he's in really dawned on him.
He fully understands the consequences and decision he just made. But there was no going back. As the ferry started going it was now no going back. He watched as the buildings got farther and farther until he could see the top of the Avengers tower. "I used to call it home" he whispered to himself. (again go check out their book)
