"I pledge to be number one."

Yumiko rolled her eyes and folded her arms while the rest of her classmates facepalmed. The rest of the classes jeered at him while he stepped off the podium. "You could have said something nicer." Yumiko scoffed as Midnight continued to list their first activity. "But I really want to become number one." Bakugo said with a straight face while continuing to look forward, paying attention to what Midnight was saying.

Yumiko took a closer look at Bakugo's eyes as she squinted hers. They were full of aggression and determination. He was certainly not lying about wanting to be number one. Yumiko sighed and turned back to listen to whatever Midnight was saying, a sense of uneasiness flooding through her veins.

TIME SKIP

"3...2...1...GO!"

Everyone immediately ran forward, some fighting for the place in front while some remained at the back. Yumiko was one of those in the middle but slowly weaved her way to the front using Sonic's power. She was definitely becoming really close friends with Sonic the Hedgehog. They would have sticky marshmallows sometimes when Yumiko goes into his game.

"Woah! Look at Kano Yumiko, a student from Class 1A, immediately moving to the front even though she was at the back!" Present Mic's loud voice rang throughout the arena as everyone had eyes on the white haired girl.

Yumiko was neck to neck with Todoroki who was first in the time being, but they quickly slowed their pace down after seeing giant robots appear. "So this was what they faced in the entrance exams?" Todoroki froze most of the robots in an unstable position so that they could fall anytime while Yumiko gathered energy in her legs from a game character she truly adored in one of her games, and jumped over the robot.

"Woah again! Todoroki used a smart strategy and how did Yumiko, such a short figure, jump over that robot which is probably twenty times her size!" Honestly, Present Mic's comments were starting to piss Yumiko off, making her give Present Mic a 'tch' and a glare.

This time, instead of jumping over the robot, two sharp and long katanas appeared in both of her hands as she slid on the floor in between the robot's legs, slicking it at its joints, causing it to topple over on some other students. Bakugo seemed to be one of them, since he started shouting like a dog with fleas.

"YOU GODDAMN SHORTY! PLAYING DIRTY, ARE WE? I'LL KILL YOU!" Bakugo pushed himself forwards while explosions came out of his palms. Yumiko just stuck her tongue out and held out the peace sign, heading towards the next obstacle, which included some balancing and ropes.

Yumiko stared straight at the ropes before her and blinked twice. She was thinking about the consequences if she fell. All her worries immediately fade away as she sees Todoroki halfway on the ropes and Bakugo catching up from behind, screaming like a mad dog. She had forgotten what she was doing here. She wanted, no needed to win.

She mustered up her courage and focused her sight on something stationary before running straight forward for a few steps and lifted her toes off, letting the base of her roller sneakers do the rest of the work.

She was at the end before she knew it. She looked to her right. Todoroki was not too far in front. She looked behind. The others were not too far behind either. She took in a deep breath and sprinted far in front, enjoying the feeling of the wind caressing her cheeks. She knew she had to save her quirk for the rest of the battles later on. She must rely on her own physical strength and stamina for now.

Before she knew it, she was already in the lead and was at the final obstacle: The Land Mine Field. She used her quirk to scan through the whole minefield and located where most of the mines were. She carefully made her way through the field, still running but at a slower pace. One wrong step and it will be the end for her.

Yumiko was in the lead for now, until she heard a loud explosion from the back. She turned around as her eyes widened, seeing Midoriya fly ahead in front of her. Due to her natural reflexes, a rope appeared in her hands and wrapped around the end of the robot piece Midoriya was tightly holding on to.

Yumiko did not realise how forceful the mines were and the great momentum of the flying robot piece dragged her forward as Midoriya and her crashed into each other and rolled towards the finishing line at a tremendous speed. But after a while, Yumiko let go of him and stepped over him, running towards the finishing line.

"WOAH! WHAT AN UNEXPECTED TURN OF EVENTS! And the first to make it over the finishing line is Kano Yumiko from Class 1A, who already showed so many skills!"

The crowd cheered on wildly as they began to chant Yumiko's name. Most of the pro heroes took interest in her already. Yumiko could not believe it. There were hundreds of contestants but she was the first one? She stared at Midoriya and others who were coming near to the finishing line.

"Good...job Yumiko...you were so...great and your reflexes...were so good!" Midoriya stated in between his breaths as he panted. Guess he was too tired to stutter this time.

"YOU LITTLE SHORTY!" Bakugo walked towards Yumiko, fuming in anger. "I'LL BEAT YOUR ASS IN THE NEXT ROUND, YOU HEAR ME?" He grabbed the sides of her PE attire's collar while she stared at him in amusement.

"But you don't even know what the next round is yet. It could be a disadvantage to you, like water sprinklers to tame those tiny explosions of yours." Bakugo's face twitched in anger. "SHUT THE HELL UP TWIG!" Yumiko quirked up an eyebrow. "So I'm 'twig' now? Decide on a name, jeez..." Yumiko rubbed her head, pretending to be confused, making Bakugo even more furious.
