“Where is she?” Alec mutters, looking around the club, bouncing on his toes.

“I don’t know Alec, be patient, will you?” Jace barely glances up at his friend, continuing to run his fingers over the blade he held. Dressed in all black, no one would notice them even without the marks they wore. People dancing under the lights and through the fake fog that the club had filling the room. Then, he saw her. She looked like a ghost walking through the fog, walking into an off-limits storage room, followed by the demon they were there to kill. Jace nudges his friends arm and dashes after the girl and demon, moving silently and quickly through the crowd of grinding dancers, who were drunk to the bone. Upon entering the room, the two boys dodge loose hanging cables and jump over cables running over the floor until they reach the girl and the demon.

“What took so long, Izzy?” Alec asks the girl who had the same dark hair as him, but he was shorter than her. The girl called Izzy shrugs at the boy, and indicated to the demon, who had taken the form of a blue haired punk boy, but a sheathed knife lay several meters from where he was tied.

“Took a while to locate him, and then to grab his attention.” Izzy explains. They hear the door to the room open, but barely gave it a glance. They wouldn’t be seen, despite the fact that they were as clear as day there, in the room.

“- stupid.” A girls’ voice hisses. Alec raises a glowing seraph blade up, but Jace looks at his friend with lazy eyes.

“Alec, leave it. Probably just some drunk kid, who wandered in here thinking it was the bathroom, don’t panic.” Slowly, Alec turns back to the struggling demon. “Now, let’s finish this and go.” Just as he pulls out another glowing seraph blade, and pulls it back, ready to strike, the demon boy blurts.

“Wait!” He says hurriedly. “If you spare me, I’ll tell you where Valentine is.”

“Why is it,” Jace drops the seraph blade to his side, “that each time that we catch one of you, you always claim that Valentine is alive? Well, we know where he is. Buried in the depths of Tartarus.” Jace pulls the seraph blade back again, and a girl screams. Every head whips round and Alec raises his blade. Izzy raises a glinting, silver whip, each had forgotten the demon strapped to the post behind them.

“Stop!” The girl had mid-waist length red hair that was falling in soft waves down her back. Her eyes were wide, and her eyes flickered from one to another, eyes snapping to the weapons each time light glinted off them.

Jace.” Alec hisses, his eyes on the girl.

“Alright,” swiftly, Jace spins round, burying the blade deep into the demons chest. It deflated and vanished promptly, and the girl backed away. Izzy’s whip flashed as it flew, causing the girl to freeze.

“The police are on their way.” She breaths.

“No, they’re not. Besides, no-one’s interested unless there’s a body, and,” Alec looks around the room, and the girl shrinks back, her back hitting the wall. Her breathing sped up, although no one had moved a muscle towards her.

“You – you’re going to kill me, aren’t you?” She looked like a cornered animal, and Jace flicks his arm out as Alec starts to the girl, his face haughty. She squirms and looks around the room, her breathing shallow and her eyes darting wildly around the room.

“Not unless you’re a demon.” Jace says, a smile in his voice. “Izz, don’t.” The dark haired girl, who still held the whip froze again. “Look, girl,” Jace stared squarely at the girl, “this isn’t the bathroom, or a gang. Just go home, and pretend this never –”

“I can’t.” Jace looked at his friends, confused. “Can’t just go home … or … or forget what I saw. It’s impossible.”

“Well, that leaves just two options.” Alec mutters loudly. “Either we take her home, or –”
