Tell 'em all call me a fool
But I'm stuck in this love thing
Plus I'm over heatin' from the rush
Our tongues touch
Kissin' fellin' fireworks
Watch the sky
I makes you smile
But you'd rather have what makes you cry
Say goodbye and leave now
With my heart on my sleeve
Memories now what I found is you
Still care you had feelings
And they're still there baby
Girl keep it real here
Are you still down?Girl it's alright, baby
'Cause it's there in your eyes yeah
I can see that you want me
By the way that you smile
Are u still down for me.....Driving down the street with one hand on the wheel, with my seat practically in the trunk of my brand new 2018 all blacked out Cadillac SUV. Bobbing Are you still down by Jon B featuring 2pac. Not many people still listens to the old music anymore but if you asked me music like this actually made sense. They didn't talk about fucking bitches raw and drugs. Don't get me wrong I listened to stuff like that sometimes, but sometimes with the crazy bullshit going on around me. I need music like this to calm my mental.
While waiting for the light to change, looking at my surroundings and just think about the bullshit that I was walking into once I reached the auto shop. These niggas been calling me all morning with some bullshit.
The standard iPhone ringtone came through my speakers, interrupting my music and taking me from my thoughts. I slide my thumb across my phone screen, not bothering to look at who was calling me.
"Speak" I yelled through the phone
"David Brewster Jr.! Make me reach through this phone and beat your ass! You hear?" My lovely mothers voice came through my car speakers as the light change letting me proceed to my destination.
"Oh my bad Ma, i thought you was someone else" I replied
"Mhmm, you do know that you still not to old for me to go get my shoe?" She asked making remember when she'd would whip me with that beauty supply store shoe with the beaded flowers on the top.
"Yeah mom I know but what's up". I asked laughing
" I was calling to see if you, T-Rell and my grandbaby was coming over for Sunday dinner?"
"I know I'll be there but I'm on my way to the "shop" now to meet Rell so I'll ask when Iget there" I replied knowing she knew what I was referring to when I said the shop.
You can't never be to careful over the phone. You never know who was listening in. Yes, my mother knew what I did for a living. Even though she wanted me to quit the street life, she also knew why I did it for her and my now 17 year old sister. When I first started out in the streets i was just 15 years old. My mom was working 2 sometimes 3 jobs to try and keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. Seeing as though no one wanted to hire a high school dropout and when they did they never wanted to pay her anything over $5hr.
See my mom had me when she was 17 years old. At the beginning of my life my dad was a great guy. I remember us going to basketball games together but that all change after my sister Kelsey was born. He started coming home late at night, we'd be lucky if he even came home at all. There was few night were Me, Kels and Mom would get woken up my some bitch talking about she was pregnant by him.At the time moms never believe it but soon after I turned 11. My mom grew tired and specious and followed him and sure enough he was cheating on her. She confronted him about it and he promised he'd get his act together.
Two years down the line it all started back up again but this time my mom knew the woman, Her cousin Khristen gave him the option either us or her. Guess who this fuck nigga choose.... Khristen money hungry, home wrecking ass. But I don't blame Khristen, I blame him but I'll leave that story for a different time. So he left and soon after I turned 15 I'd notice shut off notices in my moms room. Eventually every other month at least one utility would get shut off for a few weeks until she got the money to pay for it. I was now the many of the house since deadbeat was out of the picture, so i had to make money and i had to make money fast so i turned to T-Rell who's like a brother to me. From there the empire that we now had was built.
" Okay, just let me know because we all need have a family discussion" she replied leaving it short
"What's going on? You and Kels straight?" I asked growing concerned
" everyone's fine, i just wanted to talk to you guys about something" she said as I finally pulled up to the warehouse.
"Look Ma, I gotta go I'll call you later"
" You better call me back or I'll be at your front door bright and early tomorrow" she said as I pulled into the garage.
" I will, I love you Ma"
"I love you too Son" she said before hanging up.
Finally exiting the car I walked to the door that lead into the waiting are for people who was actually waiting for their car to serviced.
Walking through I spotted Uncle Lou. The old head i had put in charge of the actual auto shop. He wasn't actually my uncle but I everyone that was employed with me was family to me, well that's until the screwed me over." How's life treating you oldman ?" i replied
"First off what did I tell y'all dusty asses to stop calling me old. I could snatch are y'all lil girlfriends by the panties with just one look." He joked
Lou hated when all the younger cats called him old man. He still thought that he was young and could still get down like the rest of them. He'd always talk about stealing someone's girl or whooping somebody's ass. Word around that block is a few summers back, he mangled a dude for beating on his great niece. I was there when it happened but I've heard the tails of it all.
"My bad ol-Lou, my bad Lou. How's things looking around here?" I question holding up both hands in a "I Surrender" type way.
"Wassup Dave, everything going good" he said in a calm manner
" no of these customers or knuckle headed niggas giving you the flex are they?" I asked
"Naw nothing I couldn't handle"
"That's good"
" Now why you're here? You never here on the weekends?"
" now you know these dumb asses can't never handle things the right way" I replied remembering what I came here for in the first place.
"Well duh nigga, you and I both know they belong on the little yellow bus with 4 helmets a piece" he said shaking his head
Shaking my head in a up and down movement, laughing at his smart remark, but high key agreeing along with him.
" you damn skippy but I'm gonna get with you on the way out. Let me go get theses idiots together" I said walking towards the back where the real business was.
