I tossed and turned on the twin size bed, ~something's off~ I thought to myself pushing the blanket off of me to get up.
Joel is nowhere to be found and I'm starting to get worried, as the feeling grows I silently cracked open the door and walk through out the small house.
"Where the fuck are you?" I wisper to apparently no one.
Looking out the windows of the front door I had seen a shadowy figure in the truck we had managed to get working yesterday, seeing this I knew it was Joel, I opened the door stepping out side.
Getting right beside the truck I heard something odd like muttering and movements from inside, the curiosity almost killed me right then and there as I pop the handle on the passenger side door opening it to find something I would never, not in a decillion years ever thought I would have found.
Joel with his head on the steering wheel shaking tears stain his cheeks and his hair disheveled as if he had been pulling at it for hours, his right leg bounced violently ~Probably trying to get his heart rate regulated~ hearing the door creaking open he turned his head in my direction and froze, face almost contorting in the fear no horror of being caught all red eyed and tear covered.
"Joel?... W..what are you doing out here?
Are you alright?" Stupid fucking questions I know, I also knew exactly why he was this way and it hurt to see him like this."Y/N I...." Was all he managed to get out before he choked on a sob, his eyes in a rapid movement to look anywhere with the exception of my face.
Anybody could tell that he was hurting, it had been a couple of decades since the violent passing of his daughter Sarah and in all honesty he's yet to make peace with himself over it, tonight marked the anniversary of not only her death day but also the night of his birthday and he was torn.
It all started last week when Tommy asked Joel and I to go run errands on his shift because he was to busy taking care of a sick Maria and wouldn't leave Jackson until she was better.
So we reluctantly said yes and went to pack so we could be on our way in order to get back as soon as possible before Joel's birthday the upcoming Thursday.
In the long run we ended up getting ambushed at an interstate turning point on our way back to Jackson so we've been on the move and we had discussed the game plan and decided on hunkering down in a little farm house in the boonies.
(And here we are now)
I climbed up into the passenger seat and grabbed his wrist but I didn't want to come off as overbearing so I let go, he had an unreadable look on his face and I didn't like it at all.
I had to take the risk, I took ahold of his cheek almost forcing him to look at me and when he finally met my eyes I could see just how distraught he was so I hugged him putting his face in the crook of my neck he seemed to calm down a little bit.
His hand went to the back of my head and he slowly pulled away from the warm embrace before I had any time to react Joel's lips were on mine and he was kissing me hungrily, I pushed slightly at his shoulder and after a few seconds he retracted from me looking hurt again.
"W..what was that?" I stutter incredulously, dragging my fingertips lightly across my lips in wonder 'damn he's a really good kisser ' I thought.
"I'm sorry I was... I didn't... I mean." He was tripping over his words now.
As he tried to move away I did the unthinkable. I kissed HIM!
