Jonathan's POV.
Today was like every other day. I woke up about an hour ago and did my morning routine as usual. I had breakfast made by my cook, which consisted of French toast, bacon, and freshly squeezed orange juice.
I got into my car after breakfast as Lance, my driver of three years, was already sitting in his spot, and we made a quick stop at my favorite coffee shop for my morning dose of caffeine before we continued our journey to the office.
I stopped Mrs Cooper from getting my coffee one week into her job, I guess you could say it didn't feel right. The poor woman already does so much for me. She makes sure I'm on time for meetings; she drags me to family dinners and festive parties so that I won't spend it alone.
She often makes me hold the end-of-the-year parties in the office, too, I really couldn't care less about such things, though. Sometimes I even hear her muttering prayers of good health and safety on my behalf.
As I stepped into my company building, I started hearing the usual murmuring from the ladies. After five years of hearing the same thing every morning, you'd think I would have gotten used to hearing them say such unholy things about me, but no, it gives me goosebumps every time.
It's always the usual "OMG! He's like the hottest man ever! I won't mind being bent over the desk by him, with a face like that...I bet he's like Christian Grey in the sheets. (Shivers)
Who the heck is Christian Grey?
Upon entering my office floor, I spotted my PA giving one of her coldest and deathly glares. I wonder what got her undies in a bunch.
I hope I didn't forget any meetings for the day I thought as I came to stand by her shoulder, trying to get a good view of what was making her glare at the phone like a murder weapon, yet I couldn't understand what the problem was, so I cleared my throat loudly, and she shrieked in fright while saying...
"My lord! Mr Snow? You're gonna give me a heart attack one of these days. When did you get in?"
Poor woman, I should probably stop sneaking up on her before that happens.
"Sorry about that, Mrs Cooper. You seem troubled. Is everything okay? She shakes her head dejectedly.
"No, not really. Remember my kid sister I told you about? Her flight would be landing any minute now, and my husband has been stuck in the repair shop with the car for God knows how long, and I've been trying to get a cab, but I can't reach them for some reason." She said sadly.
I don't know if it's because of how hopeless she looks right now or the fact I have a soft spot for this woman, but I couldn't stop the words from coming out of my mouth.
"I can take you." She looked at me wide-eyed as if she couldn't believe I'd just said that. I mean, I still can't believe I said it too. She knows how much I detest crowded places.
"No, no, don't worry about it, Mr Snow. Don't bother yourself with such petty stuff, I'm sure you have a lot of work to do today." She said while waving her hands animatedly trying to talk me out of my decision to take her to the airport.
"But I don't feel bothered at all; it feels great to be helping you for once. Besides, you're in charge of my schedules so you know I've got nothing serious planned for the day." I said, smiling at her softly, and she gave me a conflicted look, so instead of waiting for her to give me more reasons I couldn't go to the airport with her, I took her by the hand and led her to where the car was parked as I told my driver where to go.
Her eerily silence is beginning to worry me, maybe she's still shocked about my mysterious
behavior. I'm still dumbfounded by my actions from earlier, too, but what's done is done; there's no use crying over spilled milk, right?Trying to get her to lighten up a little, I said. "You never did tell me much about your sister; what's she like?" It seems my plan worked because her face lit up immediately at my words.
"Her name is Isabella, which you already know. She's three years younger than you..."
Mrs Cooper went ahead to tell me about how her sister was born when their mother was already in her fifties. Her sister is very intelligent; she graduated high school at fifteen. She started traveling the world one year after securing admission into a prestigious university at the age of sixteen. Because she is very intelligent and responsible, they didn't give her much trouble when she requested to go see the world. She was allowed to take her classes online as long as her grades were consistent and she exceeded their expectations as usual.
She graduated college four years later with a double major in Theology and Humanitarian service. And now, she is always in different cities. Each time she FaceTime, her sister tells her of the newest souls she has led to Christ or how she is advocating on behalf of the less privileged and teaching schools for free.
She's hardly ever home unless there's a big occasion that can't be missed. Like her niece's high school graduation that's happening in four days. She was coming back from a part of Africa called Nigeria this time, where they had just finished combating an epidemic known as Ebola.
After thirty minutes of driving and twenty-four years worth of storytelling, we were finally at the airport. I volunteered to stay in the car, seeing as crowded places make me nauseous. I asked Lance to accompany Mrs Cooper in case there were bags to carry.
