Jonathan's POV.
"I don't get why he had to be here when you're away; Sunday is still like two days away, bro...are you gonna leave us alone with a total stranger for two whole days?" My sister continued her whining as I finished putting on my dress shirt before slipping on a tight-fitted blazer. We've been at this for hours, isn't she tired at all?
''First of all, I'm not leaving you guys alone with him. Mrs.Billson will be with you guys at all times, and Mrs. Cooper will drop by morning and evening to check on you two. Secondly, he has nowhere else to stay; I've already haired the kid; why leave him on the street?''
I said, trying to make her understand yet she continued lamenting. (Sighs) Someone would think I'm trading them out for a fun weekend and not work with the way she's acting. I moved out of the way for Lance to roll my luggage out of the bedroom, as the doorbell went off. I nodded towards the door, and Emily slumped her shoulders with a sigh before walking out of the room.
''The kid's even ten minutes early'' I voiced out as Emily rolled her eyes.
''What? You know what they say: punctual people are honest people.'' It was difficult enough persuading her to accept having him as their driver, and now I have to convince her to let him move in while I'm away.
''You don't seriously believe that's true,'' She sassed, and I chuckled.
''I happen to believe it's true; that's every businessman's motto,'' She groaned loudly while stomping her foot on the ground.
I didn't know what to expect by having my siblings live with me, but I must confess that I had not expected it to feel so natural. From arguing about which pizza toppings to get and who gets the last piece of pizza or which movie to see and places to spend the summer, it almost feels like a functional family, and I don't wanna jinx it, but I'm honestly happy.
I watched with both hands in my pockets as Lance led the kid into the penthouse while helping him with one of his luggage, and he smiled at Mrs. Billson as they exchanged greetings before walking towards a scowling Emily and me with a nervous smile.
''Emily this is Lyon with a 'y', you know the one I told you about?'' I added for extra measures when she did not attempt to acknowledge his presence, and she scoffed before walking away, and I excused myself to go after her.
''What was that attitude just now about? You promised you'd behave,'' I said to her as I entered her room and sat on her bed with a frown.
''I said I'd give him a chance not be his friend alright?'' I pinched the bridge of my nose while exhaling softly, trying not to snap at her as I said.
''You know I can't leave home like this knowing you're not happy with the way things are, so I need to know you're okay with this, please.''
Who would've thought that I, of all people, would care for someone's feelings but mine?
''Fine, I will try and get along with him, but if he tries anything,'' I smiled before saying...
''That's all I'm asking for, and don't you worry about that. He won't try anything'' I walked out of her room feeling much better, knowing she would be fine.
I told PJ last night that I'll be leaving very early this morning so he won't see me when he wakes up but he insisted that he wanted to say goodbye in person so here he is bundled up in a blanket sitting on the stairs yawning like a cute puppy while weaving at me as I walked out of the penthouse.
Jonathan trusts his employees to keep his siblings safe as he leaves town for a two-day business trip while on the other side of the world, Amirah prepares to welcome her visitor to Gardenia for her first royal visit.
''Please do tell her that I'm deeply sorry I couldn't receive her myself, there's just too much for me to do before the ball,'' Amirah said to one of the Royal chauffers tasked with the job of picking her dear friend from the airport as she turns to another and says.
''Let the princesses know that their dog is with me so he can't be accused of chewing on their favorite tiaras; I won't pardon them for showing up late today.'' The male worker bowed with a nod as he dashed towards the princess's quarter with a smile.
The late Queen of Gardenia used to say the people are what makes a kingdom and that without the people, there will be no rulers. That's why the ball was her way of giving back to the people. So each summer of every year since Amirah was old enough to walk, she will accompany her mother during the preparations of their annual charity Ball as she explains whatever she was doing to her toddler daughter.
When her mother passed away, her father started doing it as a way of keeping his wife's memory and legacy alive, and Amirah helped with all her might, but now both of her parents are gone, leaving her in charge of the kingdom and two little sisters to look after.
So not only is she honoring her parents' memories by carrying on their legacies, but she is also giving back to the people and making sure the princesses don't set the palace ablaze with their mischievous pranks and an unhealthy addiction to things that burn.
Anais & Mirabelle Lee as Mia & Nia, princesses of Gardenia.
