"Natsu!" cried out a girl with pink hair and pink eyes. The said boy turned around from fighting with Gray Fullbuster, an ice-make mage, to see his best friend, running towards him at full speed. " Hey Flame Brain! Don't turn away from me!" exclaimed Gray. " Oh yeah, what are you gonna do about it Popsicle?" Before the two could resume fighting, Mai slammed into Natsu and sent them both to the ground. " Natsu guess what?!" Mai shouted with her eyes twinkling in excitement. "What is it Mai?" Natsu questioned. " I'm going on a mission later on today!" Mai exclaimed finally pulling herself up and offering a hand to her best friend. "Really? With who?" Natsu asked. Mai looked at Natsu with a sly look before replying " That's a secret!" " What why can't you tell me?" Natsu asked with his puppy eyes begging her to spill. " Because it's a surprise silly!" Mai said with absolute glee on her face. "Aww! I thought we were best friends!" Natsu whined. " Aw we are Natsu. But a surprise is still a surprise." "Hmph fine." Natsu said with a displeased look on his face, but decided not to ask any more about Mai's surprise mission. " Just promise you'll be careful ok?" Natsu asked Mai with his toothy grin on his face. " Of course Natsu! I'll be back before you know it!" Mai said with her own toothy grin.
Who knew that Mai's promise would have to be broken.
