MAXINE'S P.O.V

I pressed the ceramic cup to my lips and inhaled the smell of my coffee. Taking a sip I closed my eyes. Gotta love the first cup of the day.

I placed my cup on the counter and enclosed my hands around it's sides, warming my fingertips. I looked out into the cafe. I loved working here. Customers scattered the seats, the ages and numbers varying. It didn't look very busy - about 6 groups would be in at one time, but we always had a steady run of customers. Some would pop in for something on the go, others would sit down for a meal or drink and as they got up to pay another group would appear looking for a table. It was a quaint little place with a very cosy and old-school feel to it. Mahogany coloured floors and a tea-stained shade of vintage wallpaper, a grandfather clock positioned by one of the large old windows. The cafe was almost hexagon shaped, filled with small booths and a couple smaller tables with cute cushioned chairs with a woven-wood structure.

"Max! Table 3!" Roza bellowed from behind me in her Russian accent. I stood from my post behind the cashier and quickly went to her. "Table 3 darling." She said, loading my waiting tray with two plates of breakfast and two small blueberry muffins.

I walked carefully out into the eatery and walked towards table three. A couple roughly in their late 60's - early 70's smiled up at me as I passed out their food.

"Can I get you anything else? I drink perhaps?" I asked with a smile. I loved old couples. They look at eachother then back at me.

"Not a bad idea thank you. I was wandering, could you tell me what it is you have in your mug?" Asked the man as he motioned towards my mug that patiently awaited me behind the counter.

"Of course Sir, well I have become taken by our Cinnamon Mocha so that's what I'm drinking." I chuckled at myself as I turned back to the pair.

"Oh that does sound quite lovely don't you think Harold?" The lady smiled and turned to her husband.

"Oh yes I couldn't agree more. Two cups of those Cinnamon Mocha's if it's not a trouble please deary." The man smiled at me before reaching across the table to take his wife's hand in his own.

I smiled brightly. "Of course, coming right up. Enjoy your meal!" I left them alone, quickly going to the rest of the customers to see if any drinks were wanted before heading back to my counter and preparing their drinks.

Within ten minutes everyone had their drinks and I was able to retreat back to mine - which was now half gone due to desperate gulps between the making of orders. I drained the last of my coffee and went to serve the next table, skipping slightly as I headed to Roza and presented her with the next order. I loved this woman. She was short and plump with greying hair and a heavy but sweet Russian accent. She was like a mother to me since I moved to America, and she always made me laugh. Currently she was stood behind the stove cooking away and singing along to Black Veil Brides 'In the End'. Yup. You heard me...I chuckled and walked out of the kitchen and back to my counter in time to see a male walk through the doors of the shop. He lifted his head and glanced around before making his way to one of the corner booths. His face was covered by his hair mostly, but the way he walked in and how he has now rubbed his face before leaning against the cold table was indication enough to clarify my hypothesis.
