Joy sighed as she looked at the small calendar on her table. It was turned to the month of November, a big red circle around the date 25. She was sitting on her bed, dressed in her pajamas, staring hopelessly at the date. She herself didn't knew why she was even thinking about it."This is so ridiculous. He wont even come. Why am I being like this?" Joy groaned as she fell back on her bed. She pulled off the facemask on her face and threw it away. She stared at the celling and asked herself, "Should I go there?"
She sat back up with a jolt. "Yes, I can go there. Its a public park, I can visit it anytime I want. I wont be there because of a dumb promise I made as a child." She said even though she knew there was only one reason why she'd go there. She turned the lights off and went to sleep, but not before setting an alarm.

Joy stood with her hand on her hips, looking at the huge range of clothes sprawled on the bed. She then turned to the closet and scanned through it. She picked up few clothes and stood in front of the mirror, trying to see which one looked good. After much fuss and emptying all the contents of the closet on her bed, Joy finally settled on a pastel pink turtleneck coupled with a pair of high waist jeans. She applied a little makeup on her face and pulled her hair into a high ponytail. It was late November so she grabbed her coat, just in case. Then she raced down the stairs and out of the house. She walked towards the park, not being too sure of herself.
"Why am I doing this? I should just go back to the house. It was warm, unlike this." She murmured to herself. But instead of turning around, her feet just moved forward, towards the park. She reached the park and looked around. Even in this cold weather, children were still playing around. Some in the sand box, some on the slides and swings and some just running around. But there was no sign of a male of her age.
"That's it. He's not here. I should go now." She said but made no movement. She herself didn't knew why she couldnt walk back, put something inside her was making her stay, wait for him. Cold winds hit her as clutched her coat tighter around herself, and rubbed her arms. Her gaze landed on two children by the swings and it reminded her of something.
Joy and Eunwoo were sitting on the swings side by side. They were friends, not the best ones, but good friends. Their friendship had started when, in 1st grade, Joy had removed an insect from a crying Eunwoo's back. She became his hero then and he would follow her around after that. Now in 5th grade, even if they had their own circle of friends, they'd still find time for each other. They were sitting on the swings with their heads hung low. Eunwoo was going off to California due to his parents transfer. They both were sad, the way 10 year olds would be, about losing their friends.
"Lets decide on a date when we'll meet." Eunwoo said suddenly.
"Eh, what are you talking about?" Joy questioned, confused.
"10 years from now, well meet at this same place on this same date. Okay?" Eunwoo said as he held out his pinky.
"Okay." Joy agreed and intertwined her finger with his, as they smiled at each other.
Joy was pulled out of her reverie when someone pulled her coat. She looked down and saw a little girl looking at her. Joy crouched down to the girl's height and smiled at her. "Is something wrong?"
The little girl shook her head and held out a small, pink muffler, "You are standing here for so long, you'd catch cold." She said.
Joy smiled widely at her and took the muffler from her hands. She then wrapped it around the girl's neck. "I'm quite strong, you know. Dont worry about me. Also, I'll be going back soon." She said as she tucked the muffler into place.
