I'm a wreck. An absolute nervous wreck. New town, new people, even a new state and my parents aren't here to walk me through it. This is a new school and I know no one. not to mention I will be living in a dorm with a complete stranger. I didn't have many friends back in Florida and now I'm in California. What was I thinking?! Take a deep breath Holly. You can do this. Smile, you probably look like a freak right now.
I look at the small slip of paper the nasal woman at the front desk handed me. Room B113. "One hundred rooms are on the first floor." I remember her telling me with a fake smile. B111, B112, and B113. Oh God my hands are sweating, what if they want to shake hands? Stop it, you're fine calm down.
I turned the knob slowly and opened the door. The first thing I notice is a Pink Floyd poster hanging on what I assume is my roommates side. At least they have good taste in music. "They aren't here" I sigh in relief. I put my bags down on the empty bed and take a seat next to them. I pull the sleeves of my sweater down over my hands and fall back onto the springy bed. I hear the door open and sit up quickly. A girl with medium length black hair and green eyes walk into the room, a boy with wild red hair following behind her. They seem to be talking about a party and stop suddenly when they see me. I stand and smile my best fake smile. She walks towards me and, of course, holds out her hand.
"I'm Rylan and I'm guessing were roommates?" She winks. I feel so uncomfortable, I'm going to be living with this girl.
"Holly, and I guess so." I let out a small laugh that sounds a lot more nervous than I wanted it to be. Act normal, what are you doing? I point to the poster hung by her bed.
"You like Pink Floyd?" I smile less fake.
"Yeah they're my favorite." She glances at the poster, I can tell I'm making her nervous and she's trying to avoid eye contact. I nod.
"Then I guess we're going to be getting along pretty well." I add trying to lighten the mood. Conversation seems so hard for me.
"Really?! You like Pink Floyd?" She speaks in a more interested tone.
"Yeah, my dad got my into them. Their music is great."
"Wow, maybe they didn't give me a shitty roommate this year." She sounds amused. And I laugh at her choice of words.
"Oh I almost forgot you were here," she glances at the red haired boy, who is actually quite beautiful.
"This is Mikey, my boyfriend." She smiles up at him and he plants a kiss on the top of her head. I almost look away from his intimate gesture. He gives me a small wave and half hearted smile, but he seems nice enough. I return the favor.
"So I just came back to get my phone, I'll let you settle in." She says reaching to get the iPhone on her bed. "I'll see you later tonight!" And with that she's gone and I'm left alone yet again.-hiiii, I hope you like the first chapter! I'll try to update everyday and I'll add a song I feel fits the chapter cause idk seems cool lol. Okiiiie bye!
