"Anna don't move."

Of course, given that crucial warning, I whipped around.

I was prepared to see something that could end my life, but a wooden spoon came hurling at me instead.

Despite my confusion I caught it mid-air, hurling it back at whoever thought it imperative to wake me from my nap. All grogginess had faded now, and the only thing that put me off was the laughter permeating my ears. No one laughed around here.

"What new drug have they injected you with today?" I asked the intruder from my position on the couch.

It was Kelly Greene, a trainee I recognized from Division 14, the division known to be used for experimentation on the various serums Gen 7 created. "Shh, it's a secret Ann." she replied giddily. Her head lolled sideways as she walked over to me, bumping into anything that stood in her way.

"But it's a secret you'll tell me right?"

She always told me, no matter what.

"They gave it a funny name. It's called...hm-" she stopped, a look of confusion etched onto her face, "that's weird, I can't remember. Sorry A."

"Don't worry about it, I could always ask Shawn."

She nodded, her eyes slowly shutting. Right before she fell over they snapped open, her entire body stiffening. Startled, I slid off the couch and took precautionary steps back, settling into a defensive stance.

"They wanted me to get you. Bring them their star trainee." she suddenly spoke, a tone of anger lacing her words.

Another defective serum, I suppose. I never understood why Gen 7 made the serums. The seventh branch of Genesis shouldn't have been chosen as the experimental one, but that was only my opinion. Kelly stood up and gripped my arm tightly, tugging me with her as we made our way to the labs.

Past the training rooms and living quarters were the laboratories, where the scientists played God with whatever they could lay their hands on. Every time I made a visit I ended up shivering, remembering the days when Division 14 used to be where I resided.

Kelly's hand tightened almost painfully as we stepped inside the doors. As I heard the lock click she whipped me around and shoved me harshly. I stumbled backwards in shock, but stood readily for her next attack. Whatever the scientists tested on her was making her angry, that much I could tell. She lunged at me, and before I could make a move she had me pinned on the floor.

She was insanely fast.

I bucked upwards and knocked her off balance, and I wasted no time in  freeing myself and shuffling towards the guards by the doors, who were not moving a muscle. "Restrain her!" I yelled, but no one made a move to aid me.

I was on my own, right in the center of their twisted tests. She attacked once more, but it didn't matter if I was quicker than most of my fellow trainees, Kelly was faster than me anyway. Her movements were erratic and almost superhuman as she landed blow after blow on whatever she could reach.  All I could really do was shout at her to stop, but she was not relenting.

"Kelly stop!" came croaking from the blood I was choking on. And she did just that. She simply froze, piercing green eyes bulging but staring directly into mine. "Get off of me." I demanded.

I watched in shock as her almost robotic movements complied to my orders. She removed herself from me and stood still, her eyes never leaving my own. Turning on my side I spit out the blood building up in my throat, taking deep breaths to relieve the lightheadedness I was suffering from.

Slowly I heaved myself from my vulnerable position, ignoring the ache in just about every part of my body. As I checked for any broken bones in my face I heard Kelly slump to the floor. Quickly turning to face her properly I saw she was attempting to stand, but it was almost as if every bone in her body had turned to jelly.

She would reach out but her arm would only fall back to the floor, her face contorting in pain and horror. "Anna!" she pleaded, but as I moved to help her I was held back by the very guards who wouldn't intervene before. I struggled against them as I watched, absolutely terrified.

She was gruesomely shouting now, her face beginning to sag. Her arm slammed against a counter in her attempt to hold something, and I screamed as her skin slipped off of it, breaking at the point of contact and tearing off in a heap of blood. Blood spurted from her eyes, ears, mouth.

Then it all stopped. Her body fell and I winced as I heard the sickening squelch. After a moment of silence came the screaming. It was coming from me. I was sure of it, but no one was looking me, trying to stop me from having a breakdown before their eyes. The only thing that stopped me was when they began to drag her lifeless corpse into another room. Paralyzed in horror I watched, even as pieces of Kelly fell from her bones.

"Clean this mess up, and get her out of here. Havoc was a success." said one of the many scientists surrounding me.

Someone dragged me out and stood me next to the exit. "You know the drill Anna, not a word."

The drill sucked. Never would I speak of the experiments in the lab. No one would know and I would go on with my day as usual. It was a procedure I was very accustomed to, but I was never subject to something like that before. I wanted to cry, to yell, to destroy any serum Genesis 7 had created, but I couldn't.

"We want you to start training Divsion 20. They're hopeless."

Nodding, I walked out. As I moved along the hallways I realized how awful I probably looked. Shuddering as I remembered exactly why I was so beat up I headed quickly for the showers, hoping no one would stop and question me.
