Chapter 3: Detention

"Uh...professor," Luna started to say but Neville interrupted," Professor, it was my fault. I had forgotten my earmuffs so I had to go back again." "So why are you late, Ms. Lovegood?", Sprout asked Luna. "Well...I had given my earmuffs to Neville so he forgot mine as well, so I had to wait for him," Luna lied quickly. Sprout raised an eyebrow but said nothing else about the matter, instead started with what they had to do for detention, "So... As you know we are going to plant mandrakes. You have to shift one mandrake from one pot to another. They are only babies so the screams won't kill you but you can faint, have hearing damage or any other problem. So wear your earmuffs." Luna was looking at another strange plant the whole time so she jumps when Professor Sprout said, "Ms. Lovegood! Where are you lost now? We have to begin planting mandrakes. You take the left side and Mr. Longbottom, you take the plants at the the right side." Luna went to her position with her earmuffs still hanging on her neck. "On the count of three, both of you," Sprout told them, "One.....Two......Three!!" Both Luna and Neville plucked out their mandrakes. Neville couldn't hear the screams but Luna, who didn't remember to put on her earmuffs heard the screams and started feeling dizzy. Neville noticed her and thought, "Why is she looking diz--oh wait! She's not wearing her earmuffs". He dropped his mandrake and rushed to get to her side and caught her just as she was about to fall. "Professor! Neville shouted to summon Sprout. She quickly came and gasped, "I told her to wear her earmuffs but she was lost somewhere else." "Now what?," Neville asked worriedly. "Let's take her to the hospital wing," Professor Sprout told him and picked up Luna.
