Keis Elizar and Ives Domingo made a promise when they we're still 17. And, of course their promise remains in Keis' heart hoping one day it'll come true as the promise still remains unfulfilled. But, years after only Ives fulfilled it.

We were so happy that I almost believed that we can fulfill our promises together.
But, I guess promises meant to be broken because you fulfill it with someone else.

"Sure kang papasok ka sa loob?"
Tumango naman ako sa pinsan kong si Ianne.
Nilapitan niya naman ako at niyakap.
"Ano ka ba, Ianne! Okay lang ako. I'm happy for them. Buti pa pumasok na lang tayo sa loob."
Sinulyapan nya pa ko ulit bago kami pumasok sa loob ng simbahan.
Pagkapasok namin ay agad akong niyakap ni Jesril.
"Bat ka pa pumunta? Pwede namang hindi."
Like Ianne, he also had his worried face looking at me.
"Taon na ang nakakalipas. Wala na kami diba? Tsaka ikakasal na siya ngayon. I should be here to witness him fulfilling his lifetime with the person he wanted to spend it with."
Muli niya akong niyakap.
This time, may tumakas na luha sa mata ko.

Hinarap ako ni Jesril sakaniya. Nakita nya yung luhang tumakas sa mata ko kaya pinunasan nya ng panyo ang mukha ko.
"Doktora! Andito ka pala."
Tumingin ako sa likuran. Only to see Alessa's sister, Shiean. Their very own number one supporter.
"Hi, Shiean."
"Long time no see, doktora."
I smiled bitterly with her greet.
Because the time I choose to be a doctor was the time he choose not to spend the promise of lifetime with me.
*flashback*
"Why didn't you inform me? Bat kelangang ako yung huling maka-alam Keis?! Bakit?"
"I'm sorry. H-hindi ko pa tinatanggap. Please l-let's talk."
Binitawan niya yung kamay kong nakahawak sa kamay niya.
"Tang-na Keis! Tsaka ko lang malalaman kung kelan kinabukasan na yung alis mo papuntang Manila?! Akala ko ba habang-buhay tayo?! Bakit di mo ko kayang isama sa plano mo sa buhay mo!"
"K-kasama ka naman. P-please hear me out."
"No, Keis! Simula nung nagcollege tayo never mo na kong sinali sa pangarap mo!"
"T-that's not true. Please Ives. H-hear me out."
"Ako na lang lagi nag-aadjust para sa pangarap mo, Keis! Kelan bang ako naman yung uunahin mo?"
"Ives, l-look at me."
Nilapitan ko siya at sinubukang yakapin kaso ipiniglas nya lang yung yakap ko sakaniya.
"Nakakasawa na 'to Keis. Nakakasawa ng ipagsiksikan ko yung sarili ko sa buhay at pangarap mo. Itigil na natin to."
"No! Ives please! No!"
Pero di niya ko pinakinggan dahil tinalikuran niya na ako at nagsimula na siyang maglakad papalayo.
Hanggang umabot ng sampu ay nagbilang ako ng hakbang nya. Pero ni isang sulyap di niya ginawa.
*end of flashback*
"Yeah, long time no see."
"Upo na tayo guys. Papasok na yung bride and groom."
Hinawakan ng mahigpit ni Ianne yung kamay ko patungo sa upuan.
"I was torturing myself here."
Pinisil naman ni Jesril ang kamay ko.
I wanted to burst out in tears. I wanted to shout "Itigil na ang kasal" kaso alam kong ako din ang dahilan kung bakit sila ang kinasal at hindi naging kaming dalawa ni Ives.
They started walking at the aisle with Ives at the front.
"So as long as I live I love you Will have and hold you You look so beautiful in white."
I looked at Ives and he was tearing up because of happiness. And, his gaze was only focused to her bride, Alessa. His smile is full of happiness and love for her that it hurts me so much.
Alessa was happily walking with her both parents at the aisle. She was also tearing up and looking at Ives with the same intensity.
I was thankful for her by saving Ives from the fall.
But, watching them both filled with happiness and love breaks my heart so much.
It should have been me if I choose Ives rather than being a doctor.
My heart cannot contain the tears anymore. Other people may mistake my crying because i should be the one of the happiest person in this church as my bestfriend is getting married. But, I'm not.
Because my bestfriend is getting married to the one who promised me a lifetime.
A promise that will be left unfulfilled forever.
