A standard to be socially acceptable
A requirement to be loved
Something that's measured by the thickness of the waist or the color of the skin.
A vain attribute held in the highest regard
It blinds people.
The good looking to the beauty of others
And
The people deemed 'ugly' to the beauty within themselves.
They see only what their reflection shows
But they forget that beauty isn't only the way you look
It is in the way you make people feel
When you make your friends laugh
When you help your parents
When you are fighting with your siblings all the time but the thought of someone hurting them enrages you
The way you help strangers carry heavy things or ask people if they need your help
When you go out of your way to make someone feel comfortable
It's in the way you feel
The way your eyes light up when you are happy
When your lips break a smile so big it covers your whole face
The way you glow when you talk about something you're passionate about
The way you put your all in everything you do
It's in the way you help others
It's being selfless to the extent you don't see your own suffering
It's in the way you think
How it's different from everyone around you
It's in the way you see
How no one can ever look at things the way you do
It's in the way you love
When you burn yourself out while keeping those around you alive
It's in the pain you feel
It's even there when you are suffering
It's the warmth that surrounds your soul
Like the colors in a sunset wrapped all around you
It's the beauty you radiate
Because
Beauty IS being kind.
That's what's important and that's what isn't valued
To all those people that have been kind to the world
But the world hasn't been kind to you
The way they see you doesn't matter
It's the way you see yourself.
