The one where they were gone

Chapter 1- Nightmare

Adriana's POV 

I was running, no, sprinting away from the vicious monster chasing me. My lungs burned as the air struggled to get out of them. I suddenly stopped, and fell to the ground. Then it caught up to me. I let out a piercing scream as the monster picked me up in his razor-sharp claws, and sunk his teeth into my stomach. Then I woke up screaming. It was just a dream. And a horrible one at that.

"Adriana, are you ok?" my mum, Phoebe Buffay, asked. By this point, I was balling my head off.

"I... had... a... nightmare... and... it... was... horrible..." I managed to get out. 

"Its ok, it was just a dream, sweetie, its not real," she whispered. Then someone knocked on the door.

"Ugh, its 2:AM who is knocking on the door at this hour!" my mum moaned. She picked me up and brought me to the door with her. She unlocked it, and swung it open to reveal a very tired Rachel and Monica. 

"Hey... guys..." I managed to say in-between the sobs that took over my throat. Rachels  face instantly became concerned.

"Adriana, honey, what's wrong? We heard you screaming and came to see if you were hurt," Rachel said, rubbing soothing circles on my back. Mum handed me over to her, and she took me with grateful arms. 

"Yeah, sweetie, we heard a scream. Are you ok?" Monica asked, her voice full of concern and sleepiness. I felt kind of guilty for waking them up. Monica rubbed my back as I cried into Rachels shoulder. 

"She had a nightmare, and she's pretty shaken up about it," Mum explained. I howled as I thought of the vicious monster sinking its teeth into my stomach. Monica whispered shushing noises into my ear. Mum went to the kitchen to get me a glass of milk, which always calmed me down after a nightmare. Or anything, really. 

"Did you want to tell us what happened?" mum asked. We walked over to the faded green couch, and Rachel put me down onto it. Monica put her arm around me and rested it on my shoulders. I sniffed, then told them.

"Well, I was running away from a really scary monster, that had huge claws and really really big fangs. Then I couldn't run anymore and fell onto the ground. It eventually caught up with me, and sunk its teeth into my stomach. That was when I woke up," I said. Monica put both her arms around me, and hugged me tightly. Soon after, mum and Rachel joined in the hug. We stayed like this for a long time.  

"Mum, can we watch a movie? There's not much point going back to sleep," I asked.

Mum got down to my level and said: "There is much point in going back to back to sleep, Adriana," 

I sighed. "Ok, mum," I said. 

"Actually, Addie, as a special treat, would you like to sleep over in our apartment?" Rachel asked me. I looked at mum, and she nodded. 

"Ok!" I said. I went to get my Minnie mouse toy from my room, kissed mum goodbye, and walked to Monica and Rachels apartment. Monica led me into her room, so I said goodnight to Rachel, and got into bed. 

"Night Monica," I said.

"Night Addie," she said, and I managed to get out an "I love you" before I slowly drifted into a deep, thankfully dreamless, sleep.
