El's POV

"Okay we're here." My dad said his voice cracking slightly, we pulled into the parking lot of the college Will and I would be attending for the next few years.

"Even though you guys are really annoying sometimes I'm gonna miss you so much." He said looking back and Will and I, he looked like he was about to cry. Joyce reached over and held his hand.

"This is hard for him." She whispered to us.

"Oh I can tell." Will said rolling his eyes.

"Will!" I whisper scolded, holding in laughter. My dad now had his forehead resting on the steering wheel.

"I'm okay." My father said as he lifted his head off the steering wheel and cleared his throat, trying to be tough. "No boys, both of you." Will and I nodded, knowing we wouldn't listen to his instructions. "Alright bye kiddos." I opened the door and got out of the car, Will scooted out and got out on my side, not wanting to get out on the other side and risk getting hit by a car. We said our final goodbyes and started to look for our dorms.

"I hope my roommate isn't a crackhead." Will said as we walked through the halls. I let out a quiet giggle.

"Are you sure you know where we're going?" I asked, we'd been walking for over an hour and I had no idea where we were.

"Oh yeah I forgot we were looking for our dorms." He looked around. "We passed them." I sighed.

"Way to go dumbnut." I said playfully smacking him on the shoulder.

"Owie."

After thirty minutes of walking in the other direction we made it to my dorm, room 353. I could hear people inside and even though I didn't really like meeting new people I knew I had to make friends. I opened the door hesitantly to see four people sitting on the carpeted floor.

Against the bed on the right side was a red headed girl and dark skinned boy holding hands, and against the other bed sat a curly headed boy who was wearing a hat and a really really cute freckled boy.

There was something about him that made me feel weird, almost safe, even though I'd never met him. I felt frozen but I could feel their eyes on me so I know I had to say something.

"Uh hi I'm Eleven or uh Jane, I believe this is my dorm." I blurted out.

"Hi! You're my roommate." The girl said smiling, "I'm Max, this is my boyfriend, Lucas, that's Dustin and that's Mike."

"Nice to meet you guys." I said I could feel my face heating up, I sat next to Max. They continued to talk about whatever they were talking about before I arrived. I kinda zoned out. I only caught myself staring at Mike when Max cleared her throat intentionally to get my attention.

"I'll leave you two alone." She whispered bumping me on the shoulder and winking. I blushed. "Dustin, Lucas, lets go look for you dorms." She said walking towards the door with Lucas, Dustin followed close behind them.

"Can I come?" Mike asked, beginning to stand up."

"Nope." Max said closing the door and leaving me alone with Mike. We sat in silence for a few minutes, when Mike spoke up.

"So uh hi."

"Hi." I replied smiling.

"So your names Eleven?"

"Uh yeah."

"Maybe I could call you um El?" He asked.

El, I like that a lot. I never like eleven it reminded me of my rough childhood and Jane just never really felt like my name, but El, it felt   right.

"Yeah." I said smiling up at him.

Mike's POV

I cannot believe they left me alone with this cute new girl. I'm too awkward. Not to mention the way she makes me feel. Even though we met just minutes ago I feel like I've known her my whole life, maybe in another universe.

There is no doubt about it, she is extremely beautiful. There was something about her eyes. They were a unique shade of brown, almost red. I could look in her eyes all day.

I want to protect her and love her forever. I shouldn't be saying that I just met her, and I doubt she wants anything to do with me. I just feel a certain connection and I have no idea how to explain it. I felt anxiety building up I had to say something, I had to. That was when I blurted out the absolute worst thing I could have said.

"Ya like jazz?"
