"Arghh it's too bright, mom!" Ruth complained.
Raegan sighed and closed the light, "Everything is too bright for you, Ruth. You want to sit in the utter blackness your whole life?"
"And what if I do?"
"Then that's your choice. You shall be controlled by darkness." her mother replied.
"Wasn't my dead older brother controlled by darkness?" she asked.
"Don't get me started on Cain. It's been years since he's gone."
Ruth glared at her mother, "You know what? Screw you and dad, I'm getting my brother back."
"RUTH NO!"
Ruth walked away, ignoring her pleading mother.
"RUTH! COME BACK NOW!"
Ruth still ignored her mother and walked on. She took a train to Glimmerbrook, the home of the witches so she could ask her cousin, Raven if she could teach her magic. Any magic was enough for Ruth.
"You too? Many years ago, your psychopathic brother asked me to teach him, I warned him to use his powers wisely however he didn't listen, he turned up a psychopath. You saw him die right in front of you, but you might've not seen it. Anyways, just to warn you, magic is a beautiful thing but it's also dangerous and it can affect you greatly. Now, what magic type do you want?"
"Any will do." Ruth replied.
"Or you could choose potions, I'm not the best at them however so I'd recommend you go to the magic realm's potions master, my cousin Nita." Raven told her.
"Potions will do, thanks Raven!"
Ruth strut over towards the magical world that Raven told her about, to meet Nita.
"Raven told you to come to me for potions? How sweet of her, the next coven meeting, I'll make sure to thank her. Now is there anything in particular that you would like to learn?" Nita asked.
Ruth thought about it for a minute, until deciding on two.
"The potion of immortality and resurrection."
"They're quite tough to make but we'll see."
A few hours passed and Ruth prepared a perfect resurrection potion, much to Nita's delight. Nita wasn't aware of what Ruth wanted to do however but Ruth liked it that way. She left the magical realm but she didn't return home. She asked her best friend, Manyeo (Raven's daughter) if she could stay over at hers that night. Manyeo agreed and she offered to let Ruth stay until she achieved what she wanted in Glimmerbrook. Ruth enthusiastically accepted her offer and she neurocalled her brother. "Ruth, my sister, what are you doing here?"
"I'm saving your life, I ran away from home for you, don't you want to come back?"
"Of course I do, Ruth but it's a dangerous process-"
"There's no need."
Ruth showed him the potion of resurrection and he stepped back. "You brewed that?"
"Yes I have."
