"Think about the people who love you...Think about how they make you feel" Maria said they were in the middle of the forest practicing on how to active her eyes, ruby was focusing on her friends and family mainly team RWBY who were family more to her than anything, she breathed in....Then out then her head started hurting and lost focus "Ah" ruby groaned gripping her head Maria just shook her head "no no no that's the mane thing you have to ignore,the head aches" Maria scolded "how are you supposed to ignore pain" ruby complained Maria bonked her on the head...again "stop whining how about we focus on controlling your emotions not your eyes" Maria suggested ruby nodded and they started getting ready to control her emotions "I want you to think about sad times, have you lost anyone?" Maria asked ruby was taking back by the question and gave her a sad look and nodded "yeah, my mum" ruby sadly said "PERFECT! Think about all the great times you had with her then think about how you lost her" Maria demanded some how happy ruby just nodded and started thinking about her mum
The time when they went camping and when she teaches her how to swim then she thought about how her mother got killed by grim
*FLASH BACK*
"Mummy look" a young ruby happily said running to her mum , they were at the beach with her mum sunbathing and her dad plus yang playing in the ocean "what is it my little flower" summer said taking off her glasses ruby grabbed her hand and dragged her to see what she built it was a wee sand castle with a red flag with a rose symbol on it "Oh I see it's beautiful" summer chuckled kneeling down in front of the castle "and I'm the pwetty pwincess you can be the queen" ruby giggled summer laughed "i will be homered we will keep all the bad guys away" summer says rubys eyes light up with an idea "ill make weapons so we can fight off baddies" ruby said running of to get sticks "don't go far"summer yelled after her ruby just put a thumbs up be for disappearing, summer just gazed at tai and yang playing ball in the water until she heard a scream that stopped everything that everyone was doing on the beach then ruby ran out of the forest and back onto the beach with 2 ursas chasing her summer acted be for thinking and bolted to ruby "MUMMY!" ruby cried tai and yang following behind "YANG STAY" tai yelled yang dis as she was told and tai jumped on one of the ursas while ruby jumped into her mother's arms and cried into her shoulder the grim growled and bent down ready to attack summer took steps back but that didn't do much the ursa jumped and ruby screamed for some reason it was looking at ruby when it jumped, summer threw ruby to yang witch she caught her and put her down the ursa stopped hovering over summer then back at ruby and jumped at her for some reason "RUBY!" Summer shouted ruby closed her eyes ready for her to be in the mouth but nothing happened so ruby opened one of her eyes to see her mum in the ursas mouth a single tear rolled down rubys face m...Mummy?" Ruby sobbed she looked back at yang who had a disgust face the ursa threw summer across the beach covered in blood "MUMMY" Ruby yelled and sat next to her mum trying to wake her up "MUM" Yang blurted and ran to summer too tai seen this and got angry and attacked the ursa just in time be for the police arrived. It's been a day since that happened and summer was in the hospital not looking too good ruby and yang and tai was beside her the doctors gave bad news that the summer wants going to make it it ripped something inside of her making her die a slow death "g-goodbye my rose" summer broke out ruby cried hard "n..no d-don't leave me" ruby sobbed out summer kept a smile on her face and cupped rubys face and kissed her forehead Then gripped yangs hand and squeezed "be strong ok...Look after my rose" summer whispered yang hooded a tear going.down her face so summer wiped it away she then looked at tai he kneeled down on one knee "I'm gonna miss you" tai sadly said and gently kissed her lips slow but full of love "I love you" summer said they rested their foreheads together and soon the beeping...stopped.
*END OF FLASH BACK*
Rubys head started hurting more but she tried to ignore it, she opened her eyes and they were flickering Then a burst of a bright light shot from her after it finished ruby collapsed "oh god ruby" Maria said checking her pulse.
