The sun woke me up as it steadily seeped from my closed blinds into my eyes. I groggily got up from my bed and walked out of my room, down the hall and to the kitchen to get some breakfast. My mom was busy cooking eggs and pancakes, faced away from me.

"Morning sweet pea, how's your mouth feel?" She asked without looking away from her work.

"Fine mom, just a bit tingly," I answered, rubbing my bottom chin.

"Well I would hope so," she said coming over with a plate of eggs and pancakes, "after all, mommy's big brave boy just got his braces taken out".

My heart hit the floor. Thinking I misheard her from my weary brain trying to catch up I asked what she was talking about.

"Oh, I don't expect you to remember, you were on a lot of anesthetics and pain killers yesterday," she said nonchalantly, "go take a look in the mirror yourself".

I jumped from my chair and ran to the bathroom. I took one look in the mirror and couldn't believe it. For so many years I had dreamed of this. Perfect, straight, pearly whites. It was so much to handle I nearly cried.

Then I got a text from Stanley. We need to talk.

When I got to school, I had the biggest, toothiest, grin I could ever managed. My smile was so clean that I swear I blinded some people by the way the sun hit my teeth.

Somebody grabbed my shoulder and spun me around. Thinking it was a bully I immediately started swinging left and right.

"Chill out its me," a familiar voice spoke.

I opened my eyes, not realizing I had shut them so tight to see a beautiful and charismatic face. Dimpled cheeks, lips that curled just right, crystal blue eyes, and ruffled brown hair.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked, my mind not able to connect voice to face.

"It's me, it's Stan!".

Suspicious I asked him, "okay if you really are Stan, tell me something only he would know".

With a sigh he answered, "in fourth grade you stuffed a chocolate bar in your butt pocket and it melted to make it look like you shat yourself".

My eyes grew big and wide. Stanley thankfully was the only person who knew that because he was the only one decent to give him a pair of pants and wore his gym shorts.

"What the hell Stan?! You look- you look-

"Handsome? Yeah, I know. But that isn't the only thing that's crazy, check it out". He pulled out his phone and pulled up Instagram.

(I really don't know how Instagram works so apologizes for the crude description).

There on the leader board was a picture of Felicia, who was receiving likes left and right every second.

"Dude she looks good," I said.

"That's not all," Stan said, pointing me to the left side of the parking lot, "look".

Felicia came out of Georgina's red corvette, and interlock hands with her before giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"How long has that been-

Stan didn't even let me finish my sentence, "apparently Georgina has been in the closet for quite some time and only now confessed to Felicia that's she's been crushing on her".

It was too much. The world began to spin, made worse when I saw Joshua.

Sure his face had remained the same, but his body didn't. Instead a mess of flab he was a bulk of muscle, hanging out with the jocks that had just made fun of him yesterday.

This didn't make any sense. It did and didn't at the same time. I just needed some time to stop and think.

But before I went inside something out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. It was a person dressed in doctors uniform with black gloves and a gray has mask that cover his whole face. My eyes were only briefly torn away when I got a new notification in my phone.

I ignored the strange notification and continued toward my class.
