"Id rather be hated for who I am, then for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

I played with the bandages wrapped around my knuckles as I walked out of the bathroom back into Mikasa's room, to find her sitting on her bed, seemingly deep in thought. "Since we're stuck here, any ideas?" She questioned, no emotion breaking through her blank face.
I sighed, feeling as if she had a mischievous grin deep down. "I guess you could tell me something about yourself?" I immediately regret my statement and mentally scolded myself before she smirked.
Ah, there it was.
"Yeah, I could do that. But you have to tell me something too." She replied, relieving my regret, a weird sparkle in her eyes. "Oh yeah? Like a question game or something." I said immediately, to which she grinned, matching the energy behind her grey eyes. "Exactly."
I stood across from her for a second before she pat the spot next to her on her bed. I hesitated before giving in and sitting next to her, not particularly close at all. "Shoot." I said before she shook her head. "We're asking each other questions." She reminded me, the grin still on her face. I felt like it wasn't fake, like her usual one. How odd.
"Well." I started out, not sure what to ask, my mind racing from all of the recent events. "Why did you move here?" I questioned, remembering she was obviously the new girl.
She stared at me for a moment, the grin already gone, but the sparkle still present. "My uncle didn't like how dangerous Japan had gotten." She answered, her eyes leaving mine, only to stare at her thumbs twirl and play with each other. I could tell she wasn't giving me the whole story.
I nodded, shrugging it off, her whole story wasn't really my business. "Japan huh? I've never met anyone from Japan." I confessed, letting a fee seconds of silence sting the air before continuing. "Your turn." My voice rang out, stiff, making her visibly contemplate a question.
"Why are you so quiet?" She brought up, making my heart skip a beat. I couldn't tell her why, myself. I shrugged, taking a moment to respond.she probably already saw the scars on my hands and knuckles. "I just don't really have much to say, I guess." She would have to find out herself.
She inspected me for a moment, obviously not buying it, "I understand that." She told me, her steel grey eyes burning into mine, we sat there a moment, while my mind was racing like a thoroughbred horse. How did she mean that? There are endless possibilities.
"Why did you sit next to me?" I broke the silence after what seemed like forever, not breaking eye contact, "Maybe I thought you were interesting." Mikasa told me, feeding off of the moment. "Or maybe I thought you were cute." She continued, making my face plaster a red hue, "or maybe I didn't want to sit with that Jean kid." At this point my mind was exploding, I felt as if I didn't know my lefts from rights, or which way up or down was, and I for sure didn't notice how physically close we had gotten. She chuckled, "I just didn't know where to sit, silly." She finished, putting out the roaring flames going on in my head, yet it still looked as if my face was painted with a bright red candy apple paint.
I sighed, taking a moment to settle back into reality, a small smile tugging at my lips. "You're really interesting." I put out, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "Howso?" She investigated.
"You just make me think, I guess." I confessed, "I usually don't care about little things like this, but you're jumbling my mind." I scoffed, "it's new and weird for me." To which her smile, finally evident, grew larger, this time, her face painted that fierce red hue.
"I guess it's my turn." Mikasa stated, her voice oddly warm, "Why are there so many scars on your knu-" her question was cut off by my phone ringing, thankfully.
I got up to see who was calling. To my surprise, it was Armin. I let out a long sigh before tapping on the green answer button.
"Hey man, just checking in on you. Hope you're safe somewhere." The blonde boy rang out. I just scoffed, narrowing my eyes. "Yeah yeah. I'm good. I'm at Mikasas" I told him, which earned a cheeky response in return. "Woah, I didn't mean to interrupt anyth-" His statement lead to me quickly cutting him off. "It isn't like that, we were working on our project and didn't realize a whole blizzard was coming to stop me from leaving." My cold voice cut through the phone to Armin.
"I'm just glad you're safe." He finished, I could tell he was slightly hurt, which made me regret mildly snipping at him.
"I'm glad you're good too man." I replied after a few silent seconds. "I'll come see you when this snow ends up clearing." My soft reply worked, as Armin immediately pierced my ears with his cheery voice again. "Alright! See you then!"
After he hung up I turned to see Mikasa, still sitting in the same position, inspecting me.
"It was just Armin." My cold voice informed her before I could realize it. "I see." Was all she said, still inspecting me before her eyes darted to the clock on her desk.
She got up quickly and grabbed my wrist before I could protest, she slowly pulled me to her door. I let her take me downstairs before I asked, "What are we doing?"
She shrugged and glanced back at me, "It's time to make some dinner."
My eyes met the clock on her stove once we reached her kitchen, causing me to feel surprised by how late it actually was. I didn't notice when I looked at my phone, and had forgotten when I was supposed to leave before being stopped by the overwhelming amount of snow outside. "You know how to cook?" I questioned once we stopped and she let go of my wrist, "Yeah of course." She replied, as if I should've known that.
I watched her in silence while she got a bunch of mixing instruments, measuring cups and ingredients. "Care for Chocolate Chip Pancakes for dinner?" She turned, her beautiful eyes meeting mine for what felt like the thousandth time, a smile on her face.
I felt as if I was going to lose my mind staying with this girl.
