eve

piles of papers were on my desk. i had been working on the trailer park massacre, and i was looking for any type of hints or clues. some people from the department went down to charlottesville to go look at the crime scene and investigate more. i was bummed out knowing that i wasn't going to with everyone. at least i still had garcia and reid.

as time passed, my co-workers one by one, checked out and left. i slouched in my chair and sighed, knowing i had no motivation to do any of my work. i looked at the pile of documents, trying to guess how many pages are stacked up against one another.

i practically nearly fall asleep while counting, but it made me bring attention to start working again. the lights slowly dimmed as each hour passed.

it felt like forever but i finished the stack of reports. i went to go look at the time on my watch just to make sure i didn't miss the rom-com movie marathon.

"shit!" i gasped. ten pm? you've got to be kidding me. i already missed the train, so i had no idea how i was supposed to head home. i got up from my cubicle and looked around the room, looking for anyone or anything.

reid was wearing his headphones and reading some big chunky book. luckily he didn't hear me cuss. i walk out of my chair, and go up to his cubicle to greet him.

"hi eve," reid said, his eyes never leaving the book. the pages had coffee stains on them, and the cover of the book was slightly scuffed.

"hey reid, i'm heading out," i said, playing with the grips of my purse. hopefully the bags under my eyes weren't that obvious.

he looks up from his book, and took his headphones off. "oh- i better leave as well. it's getting late." i nodded, and waited for him to pack up. "you can go ahead without me, i'm fine."

"are you sure? i don't want-"

"of course i'm fine, i don't want you to miss your train- watch out for the rain out there." he insisted and i gave him a dumbfounded look. how did he know that i took the train?

i gave him a sympathetic smile, and said my final goodbye and headed over to the door. i pushed and pulled the glass door, but it wouldn't budge.

"he-hey! the door won't open..." i shouted towards reid, and he comes walking over with his bag. he tries to push the door open, but it still doesn't move. god, now is not the best time for my claustrophobia to show.

"oh, i'll go check the other door by rossi's room," he shrugged. but i still start to panic. the bau was different at night. that's just my anxiety speaking... it still gives me the heebeejeebee's though... we solve murder cases here, and we see the most gruesome stuff. how do we not know that something like those cold-blooded cases could happen here? god, i need to shut up.

he started to walk away, and i let out a shaky breath. i swear, the lights just flickered.

this is the start to every horror film. they leave the girl and the girl always starts to not think straight. we're gonna be locked in here all night, aren't we?
