"My name is Akaashi Keiji, I'm a first year and I play as a setter, thank you very much for having me" He spoke robotically, bowing his head to the upper-classmen. He set his posture straight again, shuffling his head to move his hair from covering his eyes. "Thank you for being here" The older members bowed back to the young boy. He was the only first year trying out. from what he could tell, there were seven second years, two were their managers, and the others were the third years.

"Alright let's start with some short sprints, one side of the gym to the other!" The coach, Yamaji, called out. The members moved their way over to the end of the gym, pausing their conversations. Akaashi ended up between two third years, both taller than him. "Ready, go!" The boys started off, sprinting their way from one end, touching the cold ground, then spinning around and running back.

-

"It's a little short, sorry!" Akaashi nodded, watching carefully as the ball dropped towards him. Who was available? Who could he send it to? "Yamato-senpai" He called, sending the ball flying towards the second-year wing spiker. He watched through his outstretched arms as the the boy jumped and swung his hand down on the ball. His heels touched the ground again, just as the ball slammed into the floor on the other side of the net.

"Uweey!" He cheered, walking over to high-five Akaashi. Akaashi smiled very softly back. "Ahhh, man! That was so close!" An exhausted voice yelled out from the other side. He turned his head to face whoever said it. On the other side of the net, pushing himself up was a boy. his hair was peculiar, a light grey with black roots, stuck up in two sections similar to an owl's head. The boy seemingly noticed Akaashi's gaze and turned to face him. That's when he saw it.

Across the net, two wide, golden eyes staring back at him.

Two /beautiful/ golden eyes staring back at him.

"That was a good set Akaashi!" A hand hit his back, pulling him out of the trance those eyes had placed him in. "Ah, yes, thank you Konoha-senpai" he nodded, setting one look back at the boy on the other net.

Bokuto Koutarou. A current second year on their team. Bokuto was, quite the character. He was an easily excitable person, but in turn was just as easily discouraged. From the few hours he'd known this boy, Akaashi had already figured out around ten of his weaknesses. So maybe he was paying a lot of attention to the boy, but could you blame him when he was always jumping and yelling?

"Get a nice serve!" Another yell returned me to reality. I shook my head, trying to refocus on the match. The game continued on, the ball being passed from side to side, being blocked, digged and spiked. Akaashi couldn't help but find himself drifting attention to Bokuto any free moment he had. It was set point to his team, unsurprisingly, they did have their current ace after all.

"Bokuto! Yours!" Akaashi watched closely as the owl-like man ran and jumped up, swinging towards the volleyball flying towards him. 'It's short.' Akaashi noted. How would Bokuto react? Could he hit it with his left hand? Or maybe he'll reposition himself? Or maybe he cou- the ball hit the ground beside him, followed soon by his own feet.

'He didn't.. try?' Akaashi looked over to him. He looked deflated, somehow. "Ahhh! I missed it!" Bokuto yelled out in agony. "You should all not toss towards me anymore!" He called out, holding his hand out as if to seperate himself from the rest of the team. "Bokuto, the match is over." He blinked and stood up, looking over at the scorer. She pointed to the score. 23-25. "Ah! I cost us the set! No way!" The coach released an audible sigh before instructing everyone to do some warm downs and head home.

Akaashi made his way over to Bokuto, seeing no one else was going to try help him. He stood over him for a moment, wondering what he should do, before deciding to sit down beside him, stretching his legs. "Ah.. Bokuto-senpai.. you're a talented spiker" The boy looked up, golden eyes shining. His personality did a full one-eighty. "Akgaashi! you really think so?! Also, Bokuto-senpai sounds weird! Just leave it out or use san for the prefix" The raven-haired boy nodded quietly 'Bokuto-San does sound better.." he made a mental note. "Well, I'm going to be the ace next year so I've gotta be good y'now!" He boasted again, jumping up off of the ground. Akaashi looked up at him, a small smile on his face. "Say, Akgaashi! Wanna send me some sets?"

-

"'Kashi, a second year is here for you" Akaashi glanced up from his lunch to see Bokuto standing at the entrance to the classroom, waving happily. He nodded back and wrapped his bento box up, walking over to join the other at the door. "Akgaashi! How are you?"He asked excitedly as they began to walk down the halls together. "I'm doing well, Bokuto-San, how are you?" The younger boy replied politely. "I'm doing great! Hey, hey, hey!" He laughed as the boy beside him cheered loudly.

"Where are we headed, Bokuto-San?" Akaashi asked. Bokuto stopped in his tracks, looking awkwardly up at the younger boy. "I, uh, I didn't actually think that I'd get this far.." The boy titled his head to the side. 'He didn't think this far? What did he expect..'

Akaashi thought quietly to himself before speaking up. "If we head outside I could help you practice recieves?" He grinned and pulled a volleyball out of his bag. "Akgaashi! That'd be amazing!... wait... are you telling me I'm bad at receiving?" Again, complete personality flip. It was perplexing. "Well... we can all use improvement, right?" Akaashi noted, trying to cheer him up again. Surprisingly he succeeded, and off they ran.. well, off Bokuto ran, dragging Akaashi along behind him.
