"How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not hiring any part-time workers" The bald man infront, beamed at me.
"But please. I need a job currently" I plead as I clasped my hands together trying to get the approval. "Or I'll end up in streets"
It wasn't a lie though.
"Gosh. I've enough workers here in the daytime. So I don't need you" He said trying to shoo me out of the store.
Daytime? Something rung in my mind at that time.
"Ahjussi!" I said holding onto his arms tightly, keeping him from going away. I ain't giving up that easily.
"이게 뭐야?! (What!?)" He was slightly irritated now.
"Since you won't hire me as it'll be rush..."
He squinted his eyes at me.
"Can I do the night shift?"
"No way. Not happening." He declared without even thinking twice.
"Ah wae?" I began whining hoping he'd agree to my words. "You're a girl. How can I allow a young girl like you to work at night. And that too alone." He said, later shaking his head about the thought.
"I'm old enough to take care of myself"
By glancing at him, it didn't feel like he believed my say. "How old are you?" He raised one of his eyebrow.
I hesitated. "Umm...nineteen"
I glanced down at my feet as I let out the words.
"Nineteen" He scoffed at my answer.
"Please let me do the night shift. I won't disappoint you. I promise." He just stared at me not impressed by the lightest.
"I can assure you that I'll be safe. Please. I'll really desperate right now. Ahjussi jebal~" I exclaimed placing my hands over my eyes. I wasn't crying but if i still don't get accepted, I might soon.
"Ah fine fine."
I opened my eyes wide when the words came out. I looked at him shockingly. Did I hear it right. Or was it just my hallucination.
"What? What did you just say" I blinked twice.
"I said yes. You can work here but about your safety-" he couldn't complete as I cut him off. "You don't have to worry about that"
