Mase walked up to Loosey and his crew on the bench. They were talking loud about something and Loosey was very agitated.

"Yo, them bitches done lose their mind raising up on me," Loosey was saying to his entourage.

"She just lucky I don't hit women or else it would have been something else," Beans cosigned even though he knew he was shook of Cass.

Mase approached. "Hey what's the beef, man man?"

His hood slang came back. Seeing Mo fucked up like that took Mase into another place. His speech had even changed because of it. But now he was back in his element. He hoped Mo got to a hospital because he jetted off and didn't know if Black followed behind him.

Mase decided to come over to the other side of town while things cooled off. He didn't want to be around any drama. Distance was a good thing.

"Those damn bitches..."Beans was about to tell Mase who they were talking about when Loosey hit him on the arm.

"You got a loose, my gee?" Loosey said to Mase. "I'm hurting."

"You look like it, man man," Mase said. "But I don't know if I got a loose."

Loosey seemed hurt. "Damn, like I really need something to calm my nerves."

"What popped off?" Mase asked again.

Loosey looked at his peoples to remain shut. A loose cigarette for information. That had always been the transaction and the exchange. Mase knew that. No information for free.

"What got you dazzled, man man," Mase asked Beans trying not to pay the cigarette toll.

"I need a cig too, homie," Beans said. "Nerves rattled."

Mase looked around. If he knew if he wanted to be nosy, he had to pay the piper, or in this case, the smoker.

Was the information worth two of his prime cigarettes? He didn't know but the way that Loosey was looking, something big just happened. He just left a big problem, he didn't want to jump into another problem that had nothing to do with him.

And would cost him.

Mase weighed his options.

Beans shook his head. "Shit won't happen twice, I tell you that."

Mase glanced at him. He knew Beans was trying to hype his interests.

Mase reached in his pocket and pulled out his pack of Newport. Both Loosey and Beans' eyes went up. Mase pushed a cigarette through the hole in the batch and Loosey greedily took it.

"What about me?" Beans asked.

"If his story is good, I'll see about yours, man man," Mase said.

Loosey took no time in lighting the cancer stick. "Your home girl Lucky and her rat posse came and tried to get at me from some dumb shit."

"What dumb shit?" Mase asked.

"Something about someone calling that chicky girl Bitty," Loosey said blowing smoke. He looked calmer.

"That's it, man man?" Mase asked. "I could have given you a pull for that."

"You want to hear my side now?" Beans smiled.

Mase looked at him. He could have just whipped Beans ass until Beans told him what he wanted to hear but it wasn't worth it.

He made the same gesture with the cigarette pack as he did Loosey towards Beans. "This better be good, Blood, or I'm taking out your lungs and getting my puffs back."
