October 18, 2025 - 11:13 AMI was just about done with my test and I was about to get up to go turn it in.
The principal, Mrs. Jacelyn, spoke very quickly on the loudspeaker. "Teachers, do not let any students out of the classroom for any reason whatsoever. This is not a drill."
Some students in the classroom were outside, in the bathroom. I knew, because I saw them ask to teacher to go.
The teacher was already up, telling the students to get to the right wall. At this point, the classroom was chaos. The boys that weren't in total panic mode where moving the heaviest thing in the classroom - the teacher's desk. Without luck, they couldn't flip the thing over.
Some girls flipped over the student desks to make cover if anything needed to be blocked. The teacher turned off the lights and helped the boys flip the table over. Once it was flipped, they pushed it over to the door as a barricade.
The next few minutes, everyone was fumbling around, trying not to bump into anything. It was pitch black and my eyes hadn't adjusted yet.
"Ky?"
I hear my friend, Arlon's, voice. I make my way over there, my eyes barely adjusting. In the process, I end up bumping into a table. He pulls me over to one of the unused shield-like desks.
"Everyone, get down, and stay quiet!" I hear Mrs Jacelyn say.
I hear people shuffle around and immediately know they are trying to find cover without falling.
