Jump. Just jump. Don't be scared. Jump.

The voices. They echoed loudly in her head. The torture was never-ending.

"Don't jump!"

(Y/n) looked behind her. Kim Hongjoong.

"(Y/n), don't jump."

He kept his distance. He knew what would happen if he got closer.

"Come on. Come down, (Y/n). Don't jump. I'm here. Come here."

(Y/n)'s hands trembled. Hongjoong quickly stepped forward and grabbed her arm. He pulled her away from the ledge. Her skin was covered with bruises. Her lip was cut and bleeding.

"He hurt you again."

"Why won't you leave me alone?! Let me die! Let me go!"

"(Y/n). (Y/n), stop. (Y/n)."

(Y/n) was sobbing. She hit his chest over and over again. Screaming at him to let her go. She just wanted to die. She wanted to be free. No more pain. No more suffering. She just wanted to be gone.

"Shh. Shh, I'm here."

She couldn't leave him behind.

"I'm here for you (Y/n)."

Why was she so afraid to die with him around?

"I'm here."

...

Hongjoong held (Y/n)'s hand tightly. The drive to his house was silent. He pulled into the driveway and helped her get settled onto the couch.

"You can sleep in my room, if you want to, (Y/n)."

(Y/n) shook her head.

"He'll hurt me again if I don't go home tonight."

Hongjoong sighed in exasperation.

"You can't go home to that prick again. He hurts you. How can you stay with him?"

"Because he'll do worse if I leave, Hongjoong."

(Y/n) suddenly raised her voice at her childhood best friend.

"He'll kill me if I leave, Joong. Don't you understand that?! He's crazy! I'd rather endure this if that means I won't be murdered!"

"Why don't you tell your parents, then?!"

(Y/n) scoffed.

"They love him, Hongjoong. They'd rather have him as their son than me as their daughter. They said it themselves. They don't believe me when I tell them that he abuses me."

"They don't mean that-"

"They mean it, Hongjoong. Ever since my brother died, all they see me as is a disappointment."

She choked back a sob.

"I should have died that night, Joong. Why him? Why did God take him? Why him? He never did anything wrong. He loved me, he took care of me when our parents abandoned us. He was the one that first realized that I was being abused. All he did was live his life with a heart of gold. Now, he's gone."

(Y/n) buried her face into her hands. Her fresh cuts glistened in the bright living room.

"It should have been me. That night. It was supposed to be me."

"(Y/n) please don't say that."

Hongjoong hugged her tightly.

"What would I do without my best friend?"
