Avidan bounded across the shallow creek as he approached his brother's cabin, his body aching with every muddy step. He flinched as a lightning bolt struck a tree in the distance, another hitting the ground near the structure ahead. He helplessly shielded his face from the immense rain that had transformed his village into a marsh.
"Ethan! Ethan let me in!" The boy came to a halt against the wooden barrier and pounded on its rough surface as another blade of light stabbed the dirt behind him, making him scream out.
Rumbling footsteps began to sound behind him, sounding in harmony with the ferocious winds and occasional whirring of metal legs, scraping against the stones lining the water as it trudged on toward its prey.
Avidan began to kick at the entrance when no answer called from inside. He whirled around and saw the creature slowly approaching him, claws raised and ready to rip anything living to pieces.
The boy began to panic and fought the urge to run away from the cabin. He eyed his surroundings for something, anything that could aid him. His gaze fell upon a large rock laying in the mud down the steps and thinking fast, he ran down and lifted the stone off the ground.
He stepped towards a window next to the door and using all the strength he had left, he thrust it towards the surface, shattering it into pieces.
Just as one of the dozens of metal hands dug into the wall above him, Avidan stepped through the small space, paying no attention to the glass that dug into his sides.
He stepped inside fully as the beast roared out, a deep mechanical hum meeting with a high screeching sound emitting from the creature's center as it began tearing at the wall. Avidan shuddered and turned around.
"Ethan! We need to go! Wha-"
He cut himself off and his eyes widened as he realized why the door hadn't been answered.
A sharp gasp escaped the boy as he saw his unconscious brother Ethan, clothes torn and soaked with blood, arm disintegrated.

I actually have no idea when the story will be released.
