You sat alone in your quarters, your hands fiddling with your lightsaber. You ran your finger over the Nabooian band that sat at the base of the hilt. You had been thinking a lot about your discussion with Ahsoka in regards to your homeworld from the day before. The more you thought about it, the more you longed to return to your home, to find your family. You knew the Jedi would never allow for such a thing. It was bad enough you were hiding a relationship from the Masters, to hunt for further emotional attachments would undoubtedly end in your expulsion from the Order. As much as you wanted to look for your parents, this was admittedly the only home you had; if you were to be removed from the Order and no longer recognised as a Jedi, you wouldn't have anywhere else you could go. A life in the lower city didn't appeal to you and even if you did get off-world you wouldn't know where to start. Besides, now you had Ahsoka to think about too. You cared so deeply for her, as both a friend and partner, and didn't want to be separated from her so soon. You let out a heavy sigh, rubbing your eyes. You truly were at a crossroads. 'Perhaps Senator Amidala can help me,' you thought to yourself. You were well acquainted with the Senator, what with her being close to Ahsoka and Anakin. She would have connections on Naboo that could perhaps give you an idea on where to start, if you were going to look for your family. It was at least something to consider.

A knocking emanated from the other side of your door and caused you to suddenly look up. The noise had startled you a little bit, due to the fact that it was late and you never received company after sunset unless it was an emergency. Placing your weapon on your beside, you shook yourself awake. "It's open," you called out quietly. The doorway slid open partially as a familiar figure slipped inside, closing the door behind them.
"It's only me," Ahsoka replied softly, subtly leaning against the door. She wore her cloak over her typical outfit, her eyes slightly darkened by tired, shadowy rings. "I couldn't sleep, so I tried walking around the Temple to tire myself out," she explained. "I wasn't very successful."
"Dreams?" you inquired. She nodded, wandering over slowly.
"I'm not disturbing you, am I? I can go if-" You held your hand up, shaking your head.
"Don't start," you said, smiling. "I'll never deny you Soka. No matter what time it is." Ahsoka smiled warmly, sitting next to and resting herself into you slightly, using your shoulder as a pillow. You snuggled into her, feeling her lekku drape down your arm. "Now, you want to talk about your dreams?" A moment of silence passed over you both before she spoke next.
"Do you remember when I told you about the two thousand year old distress beacon with Masters Skywalker and Kenobi?"
"I think so," you said as you pondered. "You met three powerful Force wielders and stopped one from escaping and taking over the galaxy, right?"
"Yeah," she confirmed. "Well, during all those events, things happened to me. I was taken by the Son and corrupted by the Dark Side. I..I almost killed Anakin, almost aided in the Son's escape. And I...I..." Ahsoka struggled to speak, the words almost too grim to utter. "...I died." You stayed silent, mixed feelings filling you. On one hand, you wanted to comfort Ahsoka, help her move past it. But equally you didn't want to belittle her trauma. It was clear what she had gone through still haunted her and acting as though it was nothing would be insensitive. She continued: "I remember the feelings so vividly. I was so cold, so alone. I remember it as though I'm still there. It makes my skin crawl and I can't escape it..."

"You're not alone Ahsoka," you said softly, stroking her lekku. She hummed softly as her breaths calmed. "I can't imagine what that was like for you. But you're safe now, alright? I promise." Ahsoka wrapped her arm around you, holding you closely against her. Her skin was warm and soft to the touch, a welcome feeling as you sat together in the darkness.
"I'm sorry I've been such a mess the last couple of days," Ahsoka sighed.
"Hardly," you assured. "You helped me after the Ottega Situation, I want to help you now. Not that it matters anyways, I'm here for you like you have been for me for the last seven years. And that's how it's always going to be." She smiled weakly, her montrals resting in the crook of your neck.
"(Y/N), being with you is the best thing that's happened to me since Master Plo found me on Shili."
"And being with you has made me the happiest I've been since Master Koth accepted me as his Padawan." Ahsoka looked up at you, kissing your cheek tenderly.
"(Y/N), is it alright if I stay here tonight?" Ahsoka asked hesitantly. You smiled, nodding to her.
"More than alright, Soka." You shifted your position slightly and carefully removed Ahsoka's cloak, folding it up and placing it neatly on the end of the bed. Ahsoka discarded her lightsabers and placed them next to your. She then removed her boots, pushing them to the wall. You lifted the sheets off of your bed slightly, laying down on the mediocre mattress. Ahsoka quickly joined you, snuggling down as you wrapped the blankets around you both. The two of you lay facing one another, arms wrapped around each other's torsos. You both smiled, enjoying every moment of each other's company. It wouldn't be long before the two of you faded into deep slumber, this time not overwhelmed by nightmares or visions. Only the warmth that emanated from one another.

The rays of sun slowly peered through the window to your room, their warmth spreading across your face. Morning had arrived. However, it wasn't the bright sun that awoke you and your guest, but the loud bleeping of a comm device. You and Ahsoka both groaned in unison as your sleep was interrupted. Begrudgingly, you opened your eyes, surprised for a moment to see two glistening blue orbs staring back at you. But as the memories of the night before returned to you in your tired haze, you smiled. Ahsoka returned the expression, gently brushing her hand over your cheek. "I guess waking up isn't the worse thing when I have such pleasant company," she said quietly, smirking.
"I could say the same thing," you replied, looking over to the bedside. You picked up the comm device, recognising the sender. "It's Anakin," you said, handing it to Ahsoka. "Don't worry, I'll stay quiet."
"You read my mind," she laughed, taking the device and activating it. A pair of blue figures appeared on the device, one being supported by the other. "Master?" she asked, a sudden sense of worry in her voice. "Are you alright? What happened?"
"I'm fine Snips," her Master replied, his voice weak. "I...had a run-in with Count Dooku."
"I'm bringing him back to Coruscant for proper medical help," Padmé interrupted. "Ahsoka, can you meet us at the Senate building, landing bay D24? We'll be landing soon."
"I'll get there right away Padmé. Thank you for helping him."
"It's the least I can do Ahsoka. We'll see you soon." Ahsoka nodded and ended the call, looking at you. "This is what happens when I'm not there as backup."
"Evidently," you chuckled. "Mind if I tag along? I've been meaning to speak to Padmé."
"About your parents?" she inquired. You hesitated for a second before nodding. Ahsoka smiled, holding your arm. "If anyone can help us find them, she can."
"Us?" you asked, a little shocked.
"Yeah, us. This is obviously important to you (Y/N). So I plan to do anything and everything I can to help you find them." You smiled warmly, placing your hand on hers.
"Thank you Soka. That means a lot." The two of you shared a warm embrace, holding each other for a short while. "Come on then," you said finally, breaking the hug. "We don't want to keep them waiting." The two of you gathered your things and put on your cloaks. Then you separately slipped out of the room to avoid suspicion from passing Jedi, before running through the halls to the hangar bay together.

Hey all! I've been really split on the lengths of chapters. On one hand, I want to try and make them longer to give you guys more content and progression, but equally I don't want to have to add a load of filler. I'm not too sure if you guys prefer the action or the more soft chapters, so I'm trying to get stuff balanced as best I can. We'll have the opportunity to see Y/N and Ahsoka work together to get around the Umbara arc soon, as well as a visit to Naboo, so I urge you guys to give me feedback across these next couple chapters on length and content preferences, so I can provide the best experience for you all.

Other than that, writing is going smoothly! Looking forward to the next chapter already, hope you are too!
